I'm sure this will get some people upset but I am saying this because I am upset. I believe that at this stage it has become even more insulting than in the beginning, this lockout. The players and owners seem to forget that we provide the money that they are fighting over and we are the ones that ultimately pay for this work stoppage. So I suggest, even though I am sure that it wont fly because we are just too in love with the game, that if there is half a season this year or technically next year, that we all abstain from attending any NHL games, to show them that WE actually have the power here. Stop fighting over OUR money and play the game you all claim to LOVE. If we don't go to the games then they wont have any money to fight over, even if it is briefly, and show them that its not only their game but ours as well. As a big fan of hockey I am f%^&ing pissed off with what has transpired and I would love to show them just that, however I am sure that all the other big fans arent willing to try and make them pay, which is exactly what we should do because WE have the power to do so. My message to the NHL and the NHLPA is to STOP punishing us, because all we do is give, so get your heads out of your asses and play hockey godammit. Ok I feel slightly better now.

Fantastic idea. Ultimately, this whole lockout joke is on us.

However, this would never fly as it would be absolutely impossible to coordinate everyone to do the same thing. If a fan strike could be arranged, then we'd shift the power in our direction in a hurry. Until that happens, the power in the hands of the NHL and NHLPA.

It's a pipe dream, but a good one. This would be an amazing way to show the NHL and players just how we all feel, but like said above it would be nearly impossible to coordinate something like this.

I get the feeling attendance will be dropping around the league organically, without the help of a massive fan strike. Owners and players will learn whether they want to or not.

I know I am not strong enough to not watch games and check the box scores etc. I am strong enough though to not give any of my money to the NHL.
Any merchandise I buy will be from places like cheapfromchina, I will not attend any games, I will not subscribe to gamecenter or centerice and will stream out of market games from illegal sites, I will not watch commercials on televised games and not purchase items with NHL marketing. I will not visit the NHL website.

Hockey is a beautiful game but the NHL has made it clear they do not deserve my money. If they think this lockout is fair for the fans, they can now provide me with hockey for free. I will get my fix of live hockey in the WHL.

theres a good idea, no co ordination required, just dont go and dont give in. A tall order by no means but prove a point and hit em where it hurts.

I've been thinking that I would be able to do it, to stay away from the NHL when it gets back. Then I turned on Sportsnet and saw the Hamilton-St. Johns game. It was just in time to see Jason Gregoire score for the Ice Caps and I jumped into the air cheering.

I've resigned myself to the fact that I am like an abused girlfriend. The NHL can slap me around, push me down the stairs, and I keep coming right back, more in love each time. I can't help it, it's my drug. Will I be pissed at the players and owners? You bet, but that will last the amount of time it takes for the puck to hit the ice. After that, all will be forgotten.

In other news, I plan on legally changing my name to Rhianna...

There's already been a few dozen threads about taking a stand. Ultimately they mean nothing because people are bitching about the lockout one minute, tweeting about changing cereal brands the next minute and then off shopping right after that. We have no attention span. We want what pleases us in the moment. Most people who are upset now will watch the first night hockey returns because they will be back to their old habit of how they spend their nights after work.

Here's how I see it: if YOU want to take a stand, make the choice as an individual. Don't do it as attempt for widespread revenge and don't do it to stick it to the NHL. Do it for yourself.

I for one am planning to skip out for 1 full month once the puck drops... my thought is that I have been forced to miss out for three months so what's one more... I will only know what's going on through my weekly H2H fantasy hockey scoreboard (because I am still a hockey crack whore). I won't watch TV, or attend a single game all of the shortened season, and no centerice, and absolutely no NHL network or NHL merch. They already lost a chunk of my Christmas change.

I know I won't be able to go a second month, but figure one full month will be enough that the number crunchers will have some nasty data to report to the as_holes in the ivory tower.
