You know salaries are getting out of control when $80 million over 5 years is apparently not too much money.

I completely disagree. There's no way he should get more than $55-60M over a 5 year term. The reality is two-fold; 1)The remaining F.A. crop is very weak and 2)Sanchez is heavily overvalued considering he's never really succeeded in a high pressure situation. Players are getting overpaid for a mere half season at this point and it's terribly sad.

Its true, but he was looking for close to $100 million, right?

All things considered, this guy is a durable starter and proven veteran that can toss close to 200 innings each year.

I would rather give him a contract like that than sign Zack Greinke to a huge deal.
