For those of you who are of the geek variety and also interested in Analytics as they relate to NHL Hockey, I figured this might be of interest.
The Edmonton Oilers have started a Hackathon Contest. The rules and regulations can be found at: http://oilers.nhl.com/v2/ext/pdf/Hoc...ntestRules.pdf Essentially the Oilers will give out some data sets to those who register and you can use that data (along with anything else you choose as long as you reference it) to predict things like Points Per Game of certain players, Even Strength Save Percentage etc, as well as one predictive Analysis Project that you choose on your own and then include as part of the entry. It's a pretty interesting contest and is open to Canadian residents and has some pretty good prizes, obviously more so for Oiler fans. Those in the 'Saw Him Good' crowd need not apply

I figured this was going to be a rant about the tenures of Kevin Lowe and Steve Tambellini.

Too overdone, despite the "truthiness" of such a rant. I've run out of ways to even complain in that area.
