What to do for draft??
I apologize if there's a thread on this already,but as comish in my league I'm trying to figure out how to do our draft for the 2013-14 season as I'm assuming there will be no hockey for the entire year. I've talked to other owners and we've come up with a few options and we think the easiest is to just keep the draft order the exact same as last season. The only wrinkle in that is other GM's arent happy bc me as comish came in first and at our last draft I made a trade and now own the guy who came last's 1st round pick so 1st overall.
Any suggestions??

I think the popular opinion around DobberHockey is to mimic what the NHL does.
Assign your league teams like the NHL's teams. i.e. Last place, last year = Columbus = Your League last place 2nd last place, last year = Edmonton = Your League 2nd last place 3rd last place, last year = Montreal = Your League 3rd last place The NHL will have some kind of lottery (sim. 2005 NHL Draft) if they don't have a season. Your league will pick in the same order as their associated NHL team. Then... you just blame the NHL for the results. LOL.

If you want to keep same draft order, Trades like that get erased in my opinion. You traded for their 2012 first overall pick and used it, it is still originally that teams picks. Draft order reverts to order based on standings not including picks. I assume you posted for validation that it is ok, But you didn't trade for the 2012 and 2013 first round pick. Just the 2012 one.

I am pretty much in the same position as you. If the season is lost this year we will be having a whole new draft next year with the draft positions being chosen out of a hat.

Easiest thing to do is do what the NHL does, full team lottery..based on previous drafts and playoff births..
