RFAs to be if season is lost
I am trying to do some medium term planning for my sim league where we maintain a player's rights until he becomes a UFA in the NHL. Does anyone know what happens to players who were set to become RFAs next summer if there is no season?

Ultimately it depends on the rules regarding restricted free agency in whatever new CBA is developed.
Which means, until there is a new CBA - who knows. That said, for the purposes of your pool, the logical thing would be to move forward under the current rules until there is a new set of rules to use.

What about players on their last year of a deal or who have signed a one year deal?
Does Alex Semin become a UFA again if this season is lost?

Any player with a contract expiring in any form at the end of the season, whether it is played or not, will gain the status they always would have on July 1st of next year.
If a season starts then contract extensions can be signed prior to that point, but otherwise the players with expiring contracts will gain either UFA or RFA status as they normally would.

If there is no CBA, there are no rules. For example - it has been reported that both sides have agreed that Free Agency will begin earlier (i.e. 24 hours after Stanley Cup) - so if that is in the next CBA, July 1st will no longer have any meaning.
Players who are not currently signed, or are on contracts that expire at the end of this season will be subject to whatever rules the new CBA has for them. If they change the rules for Restricted Free Agency, it is possible that some players who were to become UFA will be RFA instead, or vice versa (though the former is more likely).

What happens if a player wasn't signed before the lockout? Do they become UFAs? I mean guys like Jamie Benn.
