In your league I wouldn't want to have a D as a prospect. With G and A as the only skaters cats, D's don't have too much value. Every season there's at least one surprising D popping up who can be had for free, so no need to wait for one until he has developped as hoped. What I'm saying is that I'd drop Ellis in a heartbeat for one of the top fwd prospects available. Personally I'd go with Tarasenko and I'd also consider to drop Kreider for one of the others.

What limitations do you have for keeping guys in your farm system (max GP? etc?)

Are the guys you listed as "available" on the waiver wire and free to pick up at anytime?

Is this a daily/weekly transactions league? What are your roster requirements?

I ask because if you need to roll 4 d-men every week, then there isn't much point in dropping Ellis just to add a forward on the bench.

That being said, I think it would be to your advantage to dump Hamilton from your farm and grab Tarasenko or Grigorenko instead (or Scheifele or Strome if your farm players can't be NHLers). Wotan is right - there is no reason you should be holding extra defensemen since their value is vastly lower than a forward.

The boys above are all right.

Move a forward into the final farm spot for Hamilton - either Grigorenko or Tarasenko.

I'd consider Schenn for Kreider, although that's less of a sure move as Schenn may not see tons of key time just yet in Philly.

And if you're gonna take a hopeful stud as your fourth blueliner, I'd rather have Schultz than Ellis. But that's just me - bit of a Schultz fan.

Unlimited FA pickups and trades throughout the season. We have 4 players for each forward position, 4 D, 2 G, and 2 bench for prospects.

Our league has implemented two bench positions to be used as a farm system. I was just started this year in order to have a place to season younger players, where they had no effect on your overall point totals. We have allotted 82 games per position with no points going to the benched players. We have also implemented the rule that if a player is on your bench he can be moved up to your roster, but not back to the bench for the season. Does anyone know if there is a better way to do this in Yahoo points only leagues.

The players listed would be free agent pickups.
Thanks Axeman33.

I dropped Ellis and picked up Schultz as one of my 4D. I also dropped Hamilton and picked up Tatasenko for my farm. I feel good about the moves I made. Was this my best option?
