Best 1-2 punch at C in recent years?
My mind keeps asking useless hockey related questions - it must somehow be bored this "season". Here is the one it came up with this morning:
Which of these 1-2 punches at C would you most love to own/watch (real hockey, fantasy hockey. Each pair at it's peak of course): DET: Yzerman, Fedorov COL: Sakic, Forsberg SJ: Thornton, Marleau DET: Datsyuk, Zetterberg PIT: Crosby, Malkin NYI: Tavares, Yashin  Others I forgot to mention?

I'd take Crosby/Malkin I think, although Sakic/Forsberg was pretty darn impressive too.
Tavares/Yashin? Ha! What about Gomez/Drury? -- now there was a lethal 1-2 (and expensive too!)

Went back to see if my initial thought was supportable. Not that trophies say it all, but...
Art Ross trophies: Sid/Geno 3 vs. Sakic/Foppa 1 Hart trophies: Sid/Geno 2 vs. Sakic/Foppa 2 Cups: Pens 1 vs. Avs 2 Conn Smythe trophies: Sid/Geno 1 vs. Sakic/Foppa 1 Close race here. Time will tell I'd say, but I'd bet the Pens combo takes the cake when all is said and done.

Sid/Geno will go down as being the best, for sure. They just need to play together for a few more years.
I love the yin and yang of some 1-2 combos - the speed and power of Fedorov, the cerebral play and skill of Yzerman. The physically punshing Forsberg and the silky smooth Sakic.

Point taken, I guess I can't quite ignore Gretzky and Messier in this list.
@Angus: by saying Sid and Geno will be the best when it's all said and done, do you include the pair above?? For my fantasy-league I'd probably take Sakic and Forsberg, tons of scoring and tons of grit (I joined fantasy hockey in 08, so Forsberg's best days where already gone by then, but he must have been such a stat-monster....).
