I would like to invite all those in ‘Dobber Nation Toronto’ to show support for top tier women’s hockey, and join me at ACC on Saturday night @ 7:30 PM to watch a FREE game of CWHL (Canadian Women’s Hockey League) hockey. As stated before admission is at the extremely low cost of FREE! This is a great opportunity to bring your family to a hockey game at ACC for very cheap price and show your support to a developing league of excellent hockey in need of great support. The CWHL features many current and future Olympic and World Championship women, that are usually only supported every 2 years and for the sole purpose of bragging rights of their countries with little notoriety following those tournaments. For ‘Dobberites’ outside Toronto, the league also would enjoy the support in Calgary, Montreal, Brampton and Boston. Currently the brand of hockey is not much lower than Major Junior ‘A’ by comparison and is rapidly growing stronger, as I recently witnessed the under-18 Canadian talent and game quality, currently coming through the system in a tournament.

The lockout is a great opportunity for many hockey fans to support and grow the sport at all levels, and show the multi-millionaires that are currently causing all of us to lose our fantasy seasons, that the NHL is not the only level of hockey product we can enjoy.

I personally encourage all of Dobber Nation to support all minor leagues and get out and enjoy a couple games in your region every year, be it Women’s Hockey, OHL, AHL, WHL, NCAA, CIS, QMJHL, ECHL, CHL and others around the world, to view the prospect talent and more importantly support the games in local rinks. I make an effort to view 60+ games per year in several rinks and areas in Southern/Central Ontario and have also recently travelled to Winnipeg (Moose), Edmonton (Oil Kings), Kelowna (Rockets), and Abbotsford (Flames) to enjoy and support lower tier hockey.

I especially throw this challenge to those in Canada, as we only have 11 legit pro teams playing in the country that self-proclaims itself as the ‘Home of Hockey’, yet non-traditional hockey markets in the Southern US (California, Arizona, Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi and Florida) own 21! Not to mention, excluding NHL franchises, those non-NHL franchises routinely draw more fan support than our AHL, and Major Junior teams!
