Thanks for posting. Really good read. Cherry appears concise, logical and knowledgable in all of his answers. Kinda makes you think that he over-does the crazy on Coaches Corner because its his schtict and not because he's gone crazy. Really liked his answers to HHOF questions and the lockout.

His beer is always full on Saturdays. Must have a conveyer belt direct from the keg. I believe that's why he is always a little loopy by the time his segment comes on.

I realize a lot of people think he's archaic and basically an ass but I think he is still one of the sharpest knifes out there. I have always been a big fan of his, even on Coaches Corner. I love his direct approach with no candy coating. When you get him in an environment like this, he shows his intellect even more. He still has his fingers on the pulse of the game. Love him or hate him, he doesn't miss much when it comes to hockey.

Definitely a shtick. My Dad's a cop and had a two hour lunch with Don and a few other officers (was before a Highway of Heroes dealy). He said he was the polar opposite of the guy you see on Saturday night. No hotheaded stories, no serious voice changes and over the top hand gestures, no cutting anyone off. The whole time he was asking the officers about their families, and apparently was one of the nicest, most down to earth people he's ever met.

One of the other officers made a comment about his personality on CC and he basically said "When you have a persona people expect to see it." He knows why people watch and he understands that. Although there are things I don't agree with he's usually spot on if you see through the antics.

He does that on Coach's Corner to keep himself relevant. Gotta keep 'em talking!

Does that mean that he says Luongo instead of Lalongo off the air? Or Iginla instead of Oginla?
