From Great to Hate.
Just for fun I thought it would be interesting to see where people rank 5 hockey personalities (who are not team affiliated).
I know we have the "great" lists and the "hate" lists but this is my personal 5 as I do not think there is a way to include all hockey personalities unless it evolves into a complete cage match. First my assumptions: TSN slaughters every other network in hockey coverage. Everyone likes Elliot Friedman. Team loyalty will always affect love/hate relationship with players and personalities. There are 5 guys who seem to be very polarizing and here they are. So my ranking is this: 1 - Great - Don Cherry - the patriarch of blue collar Canadians & hockey. 2 - Like - Pierre McGuire - crazy quotes, crazy passion, solid knowledge 3 - Neutral - Greg Millen - can take him or leave him 4 - Dislike - Doug Maclean - same tired act and info just annoying 5 - HATE - Glen Healy - he actually makes you dumber by the second If you can stick to these 5 go for it, but knowing this board it will be impossible. Enjoy.

In Atlanta, I only get Versus/NBC Sports & ESPN... so here's my list of those guys:
GREAT: Keith Jones (bang on, all the time) LIKE: Ed Olczyk (pretty good for the most part) Neutral: Darren Pang (I kinda like Panger... but he has some quirky annoying moments) DISLIKE: Barry Melrose (I like watching & listening to the WAY he speaks, but the things he says are pretty dumb) HATE: Mike Milbury (can't stand him, and so stupid so often)

Great: No-one. Friedman, but that's a no brainer. Like: Kelly Hrudey - Really like his input and thoughts surrounding the game Neutral: Ron Mclean - Likely associated with my total disdain for Coach's Corner Dislike: Don Cherry - thankfully, he doesn't get to speak while a game is on, only while i'm gone to the bathroom. Hate: Pierre McGuire - will prefer no sound hockey than listen to his diatribe

Here is mine:
Great- Greg Wyshynski - Insightful and funny blogger. Like- Piere Lebrun - The best guy at Espn. Always Knowledgable. Neutral- Steve Levy. Meh. probably better covering golf. Dislike- Scott Burnside - Can't believe this guy gets paid for the crap he writes. Hate- Don Cherry - Just shut the **** up already.

GREAT: EJ Hradek - always look forward to getting home from work to watch him
LIKE: Keith Jones - solid, 'nuff said NEUTRAL: Ed Olczyk - lol looks like he could snap at any moment and take out the whole crew. But I admire that trait DISLIKE: Pierre McGuire - his between the bench analysis is decent, but otherwise creepy. HATE: Barry Melrose - Le Bagge Douche EDIT: Honorable mention to the two bald guys Kathryn Tappen is smuggling

GREAT: Don Cherry - I would watch HNIC just to watch Coaches Corner. Tells it like it is, and I love that about him.
LIKE: Ron MacLean - one of the best setup men in the business. Why dont they have this guy mediating the talks between the NHL and NHLPA? NEUTRAL: Pierre McGuire - While I appreciate his passion, his voice just annoys the hell out of me. DISLIKE: Greg Millen - really doesnt offer much to anything he talks about. HATE: Glenn Healy - This guy wants to be a NHL GM sooo bad, someone cut him loose. He's an idiot.

Great: Pierre McGuire. Sure he's loud, but at least he's excited to be at the game. Knows a ton. And his radio stuff is awesome.
Like: Ron MacLean. Liked him more before I read his autobiography. But still really good. Neutral: Cassie Campbell-Pascall. She's getting better, so I'm giving her the benefit of the doubt. Dislike: Jack Edwards. Such a homer. He'd be hated if I had to listen to him weekly. (Gord Wilson belongs here too). Hate: Marc Crawford. Ugh. He doesn't say anything that is actually relevant. Last year, during the Pens first round series, he said this: ""The problem is the Penguins are trying to win by outscoring the opposition." That's a problem every team has.
