I have my next pick pretty much figured out, but with my last 2 I may target some PM players who could stand a chance to pick up an abnormal amount of points, as all I really have (as you can see in my sig) is Lucic. Here are the guys I'm looking at.
Tootoo-he should at least bring some +- as well as long as he is in Detroit. BJ Crombeen- He may be asked to fill the role Downie had rather than his usual grinder Brandon Prust-Montreal isn't as Deep as NYR, but was his chemistry with Boyle behind his output? Carcillo-Will do what he usually does, but we have seen he is capable of 30 points. Clutterbuck-he's the guy that is more used, but we don't count hits and Minny has loaded for some serious scoring lines. He may find himself on line 4. Ryan Wilson-I really wanted more wingers, but he could really shape into something. More minuted could very well equal more points AND PM

if you are looking for points from one of them, i would take cal, he will get ice time since he does hit. he is really only capable of 30. With that set up i would take crombeen since he will get more PIM

I guess it really depends if you need PIM or you would like a guy that gives a good combination of both PIM and points.
Are these the best guys available? I'd be intrigued by Zac Rinaldo on Philly.

I looked at Rinaldo, not really familiar with his upside. Also, Philly is pretty deep.

Chris Neil is good across the board if he is available for some reason. Derek Dorsett is another guy I quite like - his PIMs are always tops, he should be good for 20+ pts as he gets more and more responsibility each year. His SOG totals are solid as well.

My choice would be Carcillo, then Carcillo, and if neither of them is available, Carcillo.

Just go full PIM... don't try to get any points mixed in there.
Rinaldo, Konopka, Dorsett. Of the three... Dorsett is the best shot at points (but he should be taken already in any league that counts PIM)... but I think an offensive opportunity will substantially reduce points. Konopka was a run-away back-to-back winner of PIM in 09-10 & 10-11... but only logged 193 PIM last year because he played only 55 games. Rinaldo is pretty much this decade's version of Tie Domi (which I love). Minnesota Wild signed Konopka in the off-season and they certainly did it for a reason (Heatley, Koivu, Parise, Suter protection!). Last year the Wild's fight crew were Clutterbuck & Staubitz, but they traded away Staubitz who is now in Anaheim. Clutterbuck is actually a decent offensive player and I'd look for his PIM to go down as Konopka handles the bulk of the... uh... corrections. I think Zenon will be the PIM leader this year, possibly back to 250+ PIM. |

I don't have any player suggestions, but what I would keep in mind is that even if you pick up a goon, you have to consider how likely he'll help you on a weekly basis, given the relative inconsistency of PIM. Some guys you can predict more likely nights of goonage (is that a word?), for example if it's a rivalry game. However, given that you only really have Lucic, you have to ask yourself whether a goon will be enough to help you compete in that category, or whether he'll just help you get closer to your opponent but still lose. You also have to consider that on busier nights, especially in a shortened season, you won't have as many open slots to insert them, thus having to potentially decide between a decent scorer and a goon. Your matchup standing will being the deciding factor in such situations.
That being said, PIM accounts for one of your five skater categories so there is value if you can get use out of them, depending on the weekly matchup. But the focus should be much more on weekly performance, rather than season totals. Good luck.
