C'mon people get a deal done already........
More and more people are converting to NFL and are not phased especially with an amazing MLB playoffs going on that is only growing with popularity. I think a lot of people take for granted how many fans will return, especially South of the border....There is a big concern here......
I have been a season ticket holder here in Calgary for 6 years and instead of the 3% interest the team insures me, I'd rather use that cash to take a trip to Mexico or to a NFL city for a game and fine dinning for the wife. Does the NHL really realize this lost revenue?

I think the NHL should definitely be more concerned about losing fans then they are. The league has been making big strides in the past few years and all of that progress could be lost if the season is cancelled. Perhaps the hockey junkies will be back but there are a lot of casual fans in the US who are just getting into hockey. What are the odds that they will all still be interested a year from now? Definitely something the owners should think about. The players too since that will effect revenues and thus effect the salary cap and thus effect their salaries.

I would add that the NHLPA have just as much if not more to lose than the NHL if the league loses fanbase since they are entitled to a higher share of the revenue. I don't know the specifics of their offer but it sounds like they are still looking for a higher percentage of the pie.
