Default 2014-2015 Scoring leaders

A friend of mine and I were having an argument the other day about who would be better in 3yrs Tavares vs Giroux. It was actually brought on by a tread here. So we proceed to make a nice size bet on it and instead of stopping there, after a couple more rum and cokes we decided to bet on the top 15 scoring leaders for the 2014-2015 season. I think it was kind of a fun idea. So here are my picks. I'd like to see what some of you guys pick!

Crosby- 128
Tavares - 102
Malkin - 101
Ovechkin - 98
Stamkos - 94
Toews - 92
Hall - 91
Yakapov - 90
Giroux - 87
H.Sedin - 86
RNH - 83
D. Sedin - 82
Perry- 80
Mackinnon - 75
P.Kane - 73

Please keep in mind we did our lists off the top of our heads and were a somewhat smashed at the time

I realize I left out a couple obvious guys (Backstrom ect) but I I had to throw some guys young kids in there to make it more fun for me...

Interesting idea and list. I agree with most of it. I would probably take Toews off the list all together and put Backstrom in there in his place, with the same points. You can pretty much guarantee if OV is getting 98, Backstrom is right there with him. I just dont see Toews every getting more then 75 points but thats just my opinion and I think a few more would get 80+ to bump your last couple off the list. I can see Kane with 80+ for quite a few seasons though.

Not a bad list but I would move Giroux higher (much higher) and Kane should be higher than Toews. I will give it a go:

Crosby = 115
Malkin = 105
Stamkos = 100
Ovechkin =97
Giroux = 97
Backstrom = 95
Kane = 93
Kopitar = 93
Tavares = 90
Perry = 87
Nugent-Hopkins = 85
B.Ryan = 84
D.Sedin = 84
H.Sedin-83
Skinner = 82
Seguin = 82
Duchene = 82
Semin = 81 (if he's still around)
Eriksson = 80
Pavekski = 77
Yakupov = 76 (not Yakapov )
Datsyuk = 76
Toews = 75
Hall = 72
MacKinnon = 65

I included all of the players you listed originally just to have my thoughts in there but also added new ones (bolded). I probably have too many guys clearing 80 and even 90 but I will leave it as is in hopes of a scoring surge haha

Stamkos at 94 is a joke points-wise...that's like saying he hit his upside his 2nd year in the NHL and completely ignoring both how solid skill-wise across the board and the 60+G-120+ pace he had up until the February-March slump as a 21 year old no less. Would definitely restate his point totals to at least 100 if you want to legitimately win this bet.

Cool list!

I'd probably add Jamie Benn to it too, in the high 80s low 90s range.

So what your really saying is that Malkin has yet to reach his upside as his two best years were his 2nd and 3rd....?

Nuh-uh. You guys are missing the obvious.

Later this season Paajarvi gets traded to the Leafs for [ Cody Franson + 3rd pick, $1000 giftcard to Burke's DogHouse ] and becomes Phil Kessels setup man.

The ultimate duo is formed.

2014 pts are approximately 160 each.
Kessel shatters the season goalscoring record.
MPS eclipses Forsbergs career totals.
Skynet becomes self-aware at 2:14 a.m. Eastern time, August 29th.

Ok, ok... sometimes I drink too much ! Just wanted to see how long until Eklund tweets it.
