    Default Ovechkin Heating Up.

    Per Mike Vogel

Ovechkin with goals in five straight games, by the way, and is on a pace that would produce more than 40 in 82 games.

Hey any news is good news at this point when this guy chews up 9.5 mill of my cap.

Yep... I read a tweet saying 11 points in the last 7 games. I'm surprised people haven't been making as much fuss about it. The stupid commentators (Milbury) seemed to do nothing but bash him the the past month...

I'm not entirely surprised it's not been the topic of much conversation. I think some folks are just waiting to see/hoping that it is the sign of an extended turnaround. And on the other side, there's also been lots of bashing him around here too -- not as much to say on that front right now.

...and real playoffs for that matter. Caps are only 3 pts out of a playoff spot right now.

Yeah this would be great timing for me. I dealt for him at the deadline last year and he had a good stretch run for me though ultimately it wasn't enough to push me over the top. If he can produce like a top five guy the rest of the way that could be what I need as the playoffs approach.

And 5 pts out of 3rd place in the conference...

    I am a little bit.

Yeah, and it probably is the best goaltender in the world that's keeping Tortarella his job.

Some people were acting like he was a 65 pt player because he got 65 pts once in 7 years.

He may never score over 100 pts a season again (though I don't put it past him), but he can still put up PPG numbers and there aren't many players in the league that can do that.

you can tell he has changed gears a bit recently, a month ago it was seriously painful to watch him, he was pitching in here and there yeah but he was avoiding contact a lot and was just gliding around. Now he's hitting a lot and it gets him in the game, it's making me feel much better about trading for him just before the start of the season.

While the Cap fan in me agrees with you, playing against the Ovechkin owner in my head-to-head playoffs has me hoping for a temporary re-emergence of the old Ovechkin.

See my hope is that Ovechkin stunk so bad early this season that in the league's where I don't have him the team that does is already out. I'm 1 for 3 so far.
