    Default Scheifele or Kreider?

I am up in my league's prospect draft, and these two look to be my best two options left. I am leaning toward Scheifele, but Kreider looks good also. Who would you choose for the present and future?

Scheifele would be my pick, I'm not a huge fan of Kreider.

This one is tough, have to leave towards Scheifele though as he should become the top line center in Winnipeg with ample powerplay time. I wouldn't expect either to help you much this season.

I would go with Scheifele as well - much less competition and IMO higher upside. Neither will get a lot of points this year, probably similar numbers but I would expect Scheifele to be putting up decent numbers within a couple of years.

    Scheifele

Need to see more from Kreider the playoff was insanely impressive but sometimes players just get hot.

I would flip that around, on pure upside Kreider blows Scheifele away imo. His combo of size and speed is pretty much unique currently in the NHL, and he's had an NHL caliber shot for a few years now. He's a little lacking in the hockey sense area, but most power forwards are and his speed will help cover a lot of that.

I would take Kreider here, although I do like Scheifele as well. It's true there's less competition in Winnipeg, but I still prefer Kreider both short and long term.

Kreider now by a good margin, but with time Scheifele will close the gap, and could very difinitely be the better option in the future.

Personally I go with the better present day option, and that's Kreider, on top of that he could be the better future player as well.

This is a really good question and if timeline is no issue I'm really not sure who I'd take BUT for me timeline is always an issue and for that simple fact I'd take Kreider. In the long run I see these guys as very comparable players.....30-30 type guys.

I'm with dmvincent, not feeling all the kreider love on these boards.. Guy simply does not have the hockey sense/playmaking ability to be a big point producer. His size and speed assure him of a spot in the show, but really I think he will end up a Cy Young type (think Johan franzen). 40-25-65 upside. I personally think he ends up a goal heavy 50-60 pt player.

    Gimme scheifele.

Perfect! That's exactly what I'm hoping for out of him. This begs the question; what do you expect from Scheifele?

I ended up taking Scheifele. I do have the option of getting Kreider later on, but its so close I went with the one with a much clearer path. I am pretty certain I will be able to acquire Kreider again as the person who took him in my league does not have an affinity for prospects.
