I figure Connolly sees some time early with TB this year, then gets traded if he can't stick again. My friend and I were talking about him just last night, and we agreed it would be the best thing for him.

This could be the reason Connolly signed a two way deal

Curious what a team like Tampa would even look for in return for a guy like Connolly? To me, he still looks like he has all the makings of a top-6 forward, but Tampa is very deep at forward, they have a full defence + guys like Barberio, DeAngelo, Koekkoek, Blujus, and they have their goal crease stocked up too.

Do they just take the best deal they can get? Would they just take a similar deal to Niederreiter's (Clutterbuck + 3rd rd pick for Nino)?

I bet there's a ton of teams interested in a player like this. Teams off the top of my head that would be a good fit are the Hurricanes, Stars and Avs.

Great question - they are over the cap so something has to give - wondering if he becomes part of a package deal.

I didn't even realize that, good call.

I feel like Ohlund is the odd man to remedy the cap situation when all is said and done. That being said, I'm not sure who you could deal Ohlund + Connolly to that can offer you a good player while still lowering your cap.
