    Default Huberdeau. Slow Start?

Just wondering what people's thoughts on Huberdeau's stats so far are.
I would have predicted he would be near the tops of the scoring charts in the Q by now.19 points in 15 games is nothing to sneeze at but he scored a better clip last season. Although he did have better linemates then.

Maybe he's losing some drive to play in the Q when he realizes that he should be in the NHL If it weren't for the lockout. Then again, that would be a very unprofessional approach by him if it were the case.

Damn it's getting very windy here in Toronto.

Only 15 games in...he will no doubt pick up the pace and more than likely lead the Q in scoring if the whole NHL season is lost.

He is absolutely alone on that St-John team. He is actually very dominant (from what I have seen, and heard), but he's being shutdown by other teams because the Sea Dogs literally have absolutely no other offensive threat.

    Exactly what yougo said.

Huberdeau has gone from playing with Coyle, Phillips, Beaulieu, Jurco, and Galiev, to a significantly reduced cast.

He's still one of the most skilled players in the league. Just doesn't have the supporting cast he used to.

    His vision is unreal.

Just goes to show how misleading stats can be when observed in a vacuum.

No worries with Hubs but I can't say the same for the fate of the St John team this year....the team is gutted

Honestly, that's probably good enough and probably where he would be the last couple of years if his stats weren't inflated a bit by the team around him. A ton of guys in the Q have inflated stats (most come from Halifax and Quebec this year) so I wouldn't be too worried about seeing a slightly better than PPG stat-line from Huberdeau.

And if he wasn't trying his hardest, I wouldn't blame him at all. It's just human nature. He should be at a higher level and his team has regressed. Hard to get motivated by that. It wouldn't even be a conscious thing, either. I would love to see what Grigorenko could do on a terrible team rather than getting everything handed to him so far in his CHL career.

I expect to see some market correction but it wouldn't be a disaster if he fell short of last year's numbers. Let's revisit this thread at midseason and see where we're at.

Maybe Hub's will become a "buy low" because of the lockout??

It's gotta tough on him. Especially stats wise. I could only hope this would further his excitement and transition into the NHL. After playing with a lack lustre Sea Dogs team I'd be jacked if and when the NHL comes back.

As for the stats. A clear indication is his points and plus minus. Last year he had 72 points in 37 games and a plus 50. This year he's got 22 points in 17 games and a minus 7.. The +/- is a true tell for me. Lesser team = less points & +/- rating.

He's centering MacKinnon and JS Dea tonight as part of the Subway Super Series - this should hopefully help him show a bit more.

The subway series is broadcast on Sportnet...

Watching the game last night I wasn't impressed with Huberdeau till the 3rd period.. His pass to Oulette for the first goal was pretty slick but I was disappointed.. His back check was no where to be found till the third period and even then he still wasn't amazing..

If we remember correctly Huberdeau had a horrible first game of the Canada Russia Challenege.. He then was benched for game 2 and returned wearing the "C".. He then showed his talent in the remaining two games.

I'm not sure if he's lazy, bored, or just spoiled.. He should be giving it everything to make an impression.. The announcers last night in the 3rd period were saying that he looks like a NHL caliber player but yet his play didnt show it.

I love this kid but i'm seriously confused..

Yakupov and Grigerenko took the spotlight this game.. Followed by Mackinnon.

Game 2 will be Wednesday night on Sportsnet..

Drouin is playing the next game.

There's been almost no hype about him on these boards - but he's someone everyone should be keeping an eye on for 2013.

    Big time.

I've seen several sources that have him in the top 5 for 2013
