I'd pencil him in for ~70, assuming he plays all 82 games.
with connolly signed how does that affect kessel's point prediction for this year? is he a legit threat for 75pts now that he has help?

I agree with jeff, I can see a 35-35 season for him no problem
I'll go 37-31.

Thinking more of a 40-30 from him this year.

I don't think the Leafs are quite there yet to have anyone hit the 70-point mark, but I think Kessel has a good year due to the improvements (Liles and Connolly should add some punch, barring injury). 35 goals 30 assists is my prediction

Is 70 points the upside on Kessel?
Absolutely not!!!
Upside is more like 80-90.
Remember these three facts... He is very young, he shoots a TON, and he gets the icetime and PP ops necessary to be an elite scorer.
Connolly is no Brad Richards, but Kessel will at least be a 70 pt threat for sure with him on his line... replace Connolly with a stud Center, add three more years of experience and there's that 90 point season.

Kessel will get 31-29-60 in 77 games during the 2011-2012 Season. He is a career 65 point guy, not the 80-90 point guy we are being lead to believe.
and while we are tossing around figures...
Tyler Seguin will be a 21-27-48 point guy this year with a career 70-75 point upside.
From what I've seen here, its pretty simple; Kessel has a 30-40 goal potential and a 30-40 assist potential. That makes him a 60-80 point guy, therefore he's a 70 point player. Draft him as such. If he gets closer to 80, great! If its closer to 60, no big deal, thats not bad.
On a side note: I personally have him pegged for 45 goal and 62 assists and he'll win the Calder.
