    Default Vanek for Eberle (REP)

I got offered Eberle for my Vanek and I don't know what to do with this to be honest. I know Eberle can become an elite scorer, but his peripherals are not that great. Im especially worried about his SOG since its the one of the only two peripherals im pretty competitive at, the other being PPP which is a wash between them I think.

Making this more complicated is the fact that we only get to keep 4 players this year, so I'm not sure if Eberle would make the cut. Im planning to keep Tavares, Neal, Halak and a 4th player. Would you keep Eberle over Benn, Backstrom or Kopitar?

Any advice would be much appreciated!

To be honest im not 100% certain, its our first year in the league, my team is 4th right now, so I obviosly want to stay competitive for this year and the next but im not sure if ill win it this year unless Backstrom and Kopitar pick it up.

I would back away from this deal. Vanek has been very hot lately and is showing no signs of slowing down. Keep Vanek to stay competitive.
    Kopitar<Benn<Eberle<Backstrom

Picking a keeper is a tough decision, but I will give this one to Backstrom. He is easily one of the best setup men in the NHL and can also give you the 20+ goals. Who knows, Vanek could make a case for keeper if he "keeps" this pace up....

    You guys are nuts.

I would take Eberle over Vanek in a heartbeat, especially in a keeper.

This is the perfect time to sell at an all-time high on Vanek.

Id sell high on vanek and try and get a secondary peice, if the other side has an under performing dman it could really work out well

BUT would you keep him for next year over Backstrom, Benn, or kopitar? I can only keep one of those four player for next year, and if one of those 3 are better to keep than Eberle then this trade would only have an impact on this year.

I'd make the trade and then keep:

    Tavares, Backstrom, Kopitar, Eberle

Agreed, good sir, but he should probably get a little bit more back since Vanek's value is through the roof, right?

In a keep 4 I wouldn't trade Vanek for Eberle. Vanek as I'm sure everyone knows has been dominating and leads the league in points, I have no doubt he will cool off, but I think he's still a point per game player, and who knows how long he can ride this streak until he falls to a more normal PPG pace. Eberle is good but in a keep 4, I probably wouldn't keep him when looking at some of your other players. Vanek right now is the hottest player going, and to me that demands a greater return then Eberle, and if Vanek keeps things going at this extremely high pace, he makes himself a great keeper consideration than that of Eberle. To me this is keep Vanek, and I very much understand the concept of buy low and sell high, but this is not exactly that type of situation.

I would take Eberle over Vanek easily. Vanek may be a point per game player now, but Eberle could top that in minimum two years.

This is a easy decision for me, but while Vanek is crazy hot, try and get a draft pick or something too

If you have the opportunity to get Eberle(I would never trade him) go for it

Vanek is absolutely on fire....no denying that!

But cmon guys, you have to take eberle here, and to top it off, eberle hasnt even begun to perform this year - which means you netted all of vaneks "hot" points and will get all of Ebbs pts when Vanek comes bk to Earth.

And you know what? Vanek could keep this pace up.

    But I still take Eberle.

Cuz if(when?) Vanek cools off, you will be kicking yourself.

Let's look at Vanek's point totals the last 5 years:
    -64, 64, 53, 73, 61

How the hell is he a point per game player?!?

Vanek will not keep this pace up. It's called a temporary "hot streak" folks...

try and squeeze more out of Vanek than "just" Eberle to take advantage of teh hot start that Vanek is on...and when it comes to keepers, the list that One87 provided is as solid as it gets.

    How about this:

His Eberle+1st pick for my Vanek+4th pick

I would like to get some grit back if possible, he has Semin, Mike Richards and Subban as well, what should I offer in a package deal to acquire one of those player? Preferably Subban, maybe:

    Vanek+Timonen for Eberle+Subban?
