O'Reilly terminates KHL contract

Ryan O'Reilly and Metallurg have decided to part ways. The KHL transfer window comes up on Jan. 31st and with O'Reilly nursing a minor injury and he wasn't going to play and make it worse in the next week. The other reason given by the Metallurg website cites ongoing contract negotiations with the Avalanche.

Everyone had been speculating that Downie's injury was going to force the Avs to sweeten the deal a little in getting O'Reilly back to Colorado and hopefully this move is the beginning of a successful process (f*ck I hate that word after the lockout...).

Very interesting. thanks for the heads up he is available in a few of my leagues due to his contract situation so I will keeping a close eye on how this progresses.

wow! this was a part of the new cba that obviously went right over my head...
The new CBA makes it so RFAs who don't sign in two years can become UFA.

O’Reilly can become an unrestricted free agent after NEXT season if he doesn’t sign with the Avs by then.
