    Default Brian Flynn

Haven't seen much posted here about Flynn. He is someone you may want to put on your radar.

Buffalo signed the college free agent ( U. of Maine ) this summer and he's showing really well with Rochester. He currently is third on the team in scoring- 8 G 7 A 15 points, only 2 points behind TJ Brennan ( 17pts ) and Marcus Foligno ( 17pts ) and has played one less game than both of them.

He is on an eight game scoring streak with 14 points in his last eight games with three goals and an assist in his last game.

He also has scored 2 more goals than Foligno and is a plus-4, better than both Brennan and Foligno. He is currently sixth in AHL rookie scoring but has been as high as third and all but one player ( Jason Zucker ) have played more games than Flynn.

He has decent size listed at 6' 1" and 180 lb. He has been listed as both a C and RW. He was one of the most sought after college free agents this summer and while others seem to be finding it hard to find their game at the pro level ( Jeremy Welsh comes to mind ) Flynn has really fit in well and seems to be having no trouble at this level.

Mind you he is 24 years old so he is physically mature but it's still and impressive start.

Interesting for deep leagues. I just worry that at 24 there might not be enough time for him. Like many others the talent is definitely there though.

I like Flynn, made sure to pick him up last spring in my dynasty when he signed with Buffalo. Good, smart player with good vision and a decent shot. With the influx of center's Buffalo has all of a sudden, he may have to move to the wing to get his chance in the NHL, but I do think the Sabres will give him an opportunity at some point, hopefully he can impress.

He centered two of the top NCAA scorers in back-to-back years.....first Gustav Nyquist, then Spencer Abbott. If it had been one or the other maybe Flynn was along for a ride. But when two players get Hobey Baker nods with Flynn on their line....maybe he had a bit more to do with it then originally thought.

And the point-streak continues for Flynn with another point last night. He has scored in all nine of Rochester's November games.

    His season- Gm-16 G-8 A-8 Pts-16 with a 24% shooting percentage.

I'm glad I was able to pick this guy up off the waiver wire.

I managed to nab him in my deep league as well. I only had to drop Scott Parse, so there's really no risk for me.

Easily a step forward there. Parse is going nowhere.

What do you think about Welsh? Any hope left? Or drop him for someone like Corrado(overachieving Canucks prospect, point leader in Canada's camp before being cut)/Ritchie(grit guy on Canada's WJC, one of the only ones not owned... see if I can cash in on some post WJC hype)?

Lots of hope left with Welsh. He had a slow start to the season but has been picking up the pace (6 points in 9 games in this month). He's still very much competing for a roster spot with the Hurricanes whenever NHL gets the CBA mess solved.

However I'd drop him for Ritchie (if you don't have anyone else you could drop). Ritchie's value is rising quickly (11th best prospect according to Button; whatever you think of Button that certainly boosts Ritchie's stock to some degree). He's got very good upside and if he continues to develop this fast the wait won't be as long as expected originally. I'd definitely scoop him if he's still FA in your league.

    I'm in a 14 team, multi-cat league with 30 prospects each team.
    I have
Glennie, M. Granlund, Sheahan, B Smith, Deslauriers,
    Nyquist, Tatar, Grachev, Kreider, Telegin
Coyle, Finn, Di Giuseppe, Mursak, Yakupov
Abbott, Ritchie (dropped Welsh for him), F Hamilton, Kuznetsov, Oulette,
Flynn, Corrado (Dropped Pokka for him), Puempel, Beaulieu, Grimaldi
    Bourke, Sateri, Gibson, Stalock, Lehner.
I had to move Huberdeau and Lack up to my main roster to make room for my draft picks but they can be moved back down.

Edit: Scratch that... Ritchie is already taken... I knew it was too good to be true! I'd still welcome any thoughts on those that don't belong, or why they should (Deslauriers, Abbott etc).

    Bourke - no fantasy value
    Grachev - not seeing it
Abbott - good upside but small and already oldish for a prospect
Mursak - 4th line upside and better players passing him on the depth charts
Sateri - good upside but don't see him making it in NHL
F.Hamilton - will probably make a nice career as depth player
    Deslauriers - solid prospect
Glennie - I guess there's still very little hope left with him

Not really a fan of those guys so if there's good players such as Corrado (or Ritchie who turned out to be already taken) in the waiver wire I'd rather take chances with them than with those listed above.
