Halak is really damn good, he's just had serious problems staying healthy. NYI made a very shrewd move slinging a 4th for his services (potentially) ...

    No, it's not.

A quality start is stopping at least an average number of shots. That has nothing to do with a team stat. Once again, this, like SV%, is not a team stat, it's an individual one. A team may be able to control the quality of shots to some extent, but the goalie still needs to stop them.

I think there is a element of team to SV% because not all shots are created equal. However, in general it is the best stats that goalies have a chance to influence with their play.

    riiiight....
and nabakov faced the same quality of shots this year on long island that halak faced in STL...
all stats in hockey are team stats and can't be taken on their own without a grain of salt... especially goalie stats.

If these stats were as telling as you seem to think then I guess that makes Elliott twice the goalie that Halak is...
Hell, if SV% and QS% tell the story of how good a goalie is then Elliott must be one of the greatest goalies in the game.
wanna look at their stats in STL:

    Halak:
    167 games started
    917 SV%
    60% Quality Starts

    Elliott:
    81 games started
    927 SV%
    69% Quality starts

Now, I've always been one to say that Elliott has been better than Halak during their time together in STL, and these numbers support that theory...
But none of these stats lead me to believe that either of these guys are top-8 in the NHL.

    grain of salt my boy...

I try and be as polite as possible on here, but my god trying to explain things to you is as painful as stapling my bag to my leg. I swear you argue just to argue.

Deep down you simply are pissed off that the Blues traded away Jaro, admit it.

I wish there was a like button here....

Interestingly Holtby is at 58.2% through 98 starts. Holtby is so under rated, so under rated his coach (ex coach) under rated him!

Halak is good when he plays; it’s the injuries that hold him back. I watched him in Washington and he did well for a team with 0 defensive skills. I bet he’ll do well if he signs in NY, but a side of me doesn’t want him to sign just to make NY more of a laughing stock.
