Toews' has point per game upside but would expect him to be around the 70-75 mark most years. I'd rather have him over Richards, but it depends on what the aforementioned + is.
Have seen a few posts listing Toews as one of (if not the most) overrated players in fantasy hockey. Thinking of making a play for him partly to take a run at it this year and partly to consolidate potential keepers for next year.
With that in mind, I'm interested to hear what people think Toews' upside is and what a "normal" level of production might be for him going forward?
As a follow-up, do you see him as an upgrade (or even a significant upgrade) over Brad Richards apart from the age difference, such that you'd deal Richards+ to get him?
All feedback and opinions greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I think he's pretty much hit his sustainable upside, a 30 goal 75 point player with the occasional 65 point lows and 85 point highs. I don't consider him overrated. His value is accurate given his consistency and relatively young age. I value him significantly higher than Richards in NYC at the moment. It would have to be Richards + someone solid/good draft pick.
Thanks (and rep) to both of you.
The + as I had been thinking of it would be someone like Conacher or Silfverberg, one or both of whom I won't be able to keep next year in any event. Granted, this is totally in my head at the moment and not something I've so much as raised with the other GM yet, so I have no idea whether it would fly. But I do know that he's particularly enamoured with Conacher.
With that said, I am just trying to get a reality check in terms of my current thought process on whether such an offer wouldn't be nearly enough or if it's too much and somewhat of a bad move on my part. As you can tell, I really struggle to accurately assess Toews' fantasy value for whatever reason.

Focus on this statement and you should get a deal done.
I would simply offer Richards and Conacher for Toews and try and get Silfverberg back in the draft.
And to answer you question, yes I personally see this as a significant upgrade over Brad "what have you done for my fantasy team lately" Richards.
My 2c

Thanks sixhands -- rep to you as well.
Not to completely transform this into a keeper league trade thread posted in the wrong forum, but does anyone else have a view on whether this particular trade porridge (B. Richards & Conacher for Toews) would be too hot, too cold, or just about right?

I'd say 90-100 point upside, I just realized that Toews plays his game very much like Dave Keon. Heck, Even Keon enjoys watching him more than any other NHL player today.
