    Post DobberEntry Leagues: Top100 Summary

Recently I drafted a team in the DobberEntry league (Smythe Division).
I thought it would be interesting to compare the four division drafts on one page and see where the mindsets were of 60 fantasy hockey geeks.

    Dobber Entry leagues count:
    G/A/+-/PIM/SOG/PPP/ +HITS
    W/SV/GAA
The Dobber Entry leagues have 15-teams & use "weekly" roster sets.

See attached for the top 100 picks (by average: ADP).

    Notes:
    1. The top eight players were the same in all four leagues.

    2. There was some crazy randomness in the #9 pick, perhaps making it the hardest spot to draft from this year.

    3. I've compared a player's actual draft position to his average draft position (ADP, shaded yellow) and created a heat chart.
Red on orange = HOT. Hot pick is a nice pick, drafting team got the player a lot later than his ADP.
Blue on blue = COLD. Cold pick is a significant reach by the drafting team.

    4. The grey players had similar draft position in all leagues. Perhaps these are the players we feel have the most reliable value.

    Enjoy.

I really enjoyed that comparision; did you carry on with the remainder of the draft by chance?

Goaltenders went in a very strange way in the Norris Division IMO.

    100. Dubnyk
    116. Crawford

It seems pretty clear that the same goalie rush shenanigans that went down in the Expert's Draft also went down here but I'be highlighted a few real shockers for me.

Lindback went in the run way at the beginning? That's a risky pick given some of the goalies still out there. Varlamov feels like a steal at 79 given what went down earlier and Crawford simply fell too far.

Nice job Pengwin. Your listing of hot and cold players got me thinking about expanding that somewhat more. So what I did was was I went through every team player by player and did the following calculation for every player:

draft position - average draft position

So if you managed to draft a player much later than where he went on average, you'd get significant plus and if you drafted much earlier than average, you'd get significant minus. Now sum these up for every team for every player and you end up with a cumulative total which essentially tells at where you managed to draft players relative to their average draft positions.

Now if the GM's are good at valuing players as a group, these totals could be used as predictions of the final standings. I hope we don't miss the whole season as I am interested to see whether these type of predictions have any predictive power. So it would effectively test how good the collective wisdom of this group is at valuing the players at the draft.

Here are the results for Entry leagues.
