90 minutes before the disclaimer. The NHLPA will use it if they are not close to a deal.
Ultimately I think the disclaimer is as much of a joke as the Jan 11 deadline. Neither mean season is lost.

    Somewhat Agree.

However, if they use it and things go downhill from good progress to the " F-U we're not budging, no-FU we're not budging either, I think seaon is done. I think they either get close a deal tonight, hammer out a few things in next few days to secure a deal and not use disclaimer tonight.

If disclaimer is used, its ego time, and a true uphill battle that probably kills season.

Really the disclaimer is a backup plan that needs time to fully be inforce...

If the NHL wants to get standoffish after the players file it... thats their problem... barganing can be continued in good faith and the disclaimer can be recinded once a deal is in place... or even when the disclaimer comes in full effect the players can choose not to dissolve... They just need to file and give a notification that this is an option thats all...

I have heard that a league source said to Sportsnet that if the players file, the league will no longer bargin but go to the courts... (dunno if anyone has brought that up yet, and at the time they would not reveal that source)

If I'm the players I file... its just paperwork setting a deadline for dissolving, and if the lg wants to blow everything up after that, they will look bad publicly...

Also someone asked if players get anything for playoffs...

They dont get paid unless they have a bonus in thier contract that stipulates a playoff function (when the lg rewrote bonus structure that article may have been removed)... and There is prize money up for grabs... I dont know these #s are up to date, but the Stanley Cup winning team splits 1 million amongst all the players (and maybe coaching staff)... Losers I think its 250,000, Semi losers is like 100,000...

It is estimated every playoff game is worth 1-3 million for the home team in revenues and I believe it is still in the revenue sharing pie... Revenue sharing is % based and operates similer to your taxes... (I dont have exact numbers and here is the overly simple way it works)

Say 10 teams makes major profits, They take say 10% of the revenue from those teams put it in a pie and split it 20 ways or 5% each of the pie to the lowest 20 teams in revenue that have met qualifications to collect... (again this is not exactly how it works but is the general idea)

Different teams contribute more to the pie based on thier revenues (just like your personal tax brackets) and then they distribute the pie to help teams that aren't generating enough revenue to be competitive... MLB's luxury Tax is similer except they base it upon what teams spend on competitive personnel rather than revenues...

I hope that helps answer a few things... and if your really interested in the exact numbers they are out there...
    Current Roster:

D: Boumeester, Green, Carlson, Del Zotto, Myers, Alzner, M Staal, Pouliot, Gormley, Mueller

G: Varlamov, Mrazek, Niemi, Vasilevski, Ramo, Hellebuyck

Yeah but they still have plenty of time. They could "announce" on Jan 11 that the season is done but they will continue to exchange offers. I can see through their BS.

No disclaimer filed. Seems like a defined-benefit pension is a big issue now.
With the average career earnings of an NHLer, you'd think they should be content if the owners offered to incur the cost of some good financial advising service. This thing is driving my nuts. I promised myself not to pay attention until it's decided one way or another.
I can't promise I'll try but I'll try to try.

Things appear to be slowing down now but I think we're just trying to get over one or two last little speed bumps. The pension issue and what the cap for 2013-14 will be are apparently the last two issues- I am officially crossing my fingers.

I say just try to keep the cap about what it was this last year as that would be close to the middle of what each wants. Pension issue is weird as everyone I've been reading is acting like this was a done deal in early December, but something changed. Not sure really which side did the changing on that. Players say the league did, but I'm not sure that's really true.

Sorry, this thing drags into the weekend at least.

And happy birthday, by the way.

Happy Birthday. I'm sure Fehr and Bettman know this as well, and will act accordingly by getting this done.

Clearly you are not familiar with the NHL Lock-out definition of 'deadline'.

I am actually encouraged by the fact that the meeting last night went to 1am.
It almost says that they kept pushing on an item because they knew they could get it done.
People say "let's sleep on it" when they are too far apart to come to an agreement.

Two sides also met today from 12:30pm-2pm.

I take this as good news... but who knows.

They keep inching closer every time despite the huge letdowns we've had in the last few months. Someone moves in some area every time. It has to come together at some point.
