    Default Jack Adams Award-Paul MacLean

How does this guy do, what he has done, with what he has? His best forward has been out since game 6. His best, and the league's best defenceman has been out for a month and the leagues best goalie is out. He has a couple of aging stars in Alfredsson and Gonchar, but they continue to win.

Tonight they are out shooting Boston and are tied after 2 periods.

He was denied the award last year to a deserving Hitchcock, but not this year. Can he?

They will have to make the playoffs which I'm sure they will do. Once they do it will jut be a formality.

I agree whit you Ottawa lost Spezza, Michalek and KARLSSON and the SENS still win but don't forgot Therien I hate the Canadien but they are 2nd in the east and they finish last last year, you can had Quenniville whit 24 games whitout a lost to start the season and Boudreau should be in conversation for the Jack Adam...

    Good post bluteau.

    MacLean
    Therien
    Quennville
    Boudreau

Anyone else in the conversation? I don't think so, maybe Bylsma in PIT, but that's it in my mind.

In separate seasons, the bottom 3 carry weight as amazing surprises, but I am not sure anyone understands (AT ALL) what is going on in Ottawa. For that reason, no contest.

If Columbus makes the playoffs Richards joins the convo no?

I agree with that.....and also with what was said above. Quennville has done a great job, but he has a contender on paper...not an AHL team like Maclean

    Paul MacLean's moustache narrowly defeats:

    Michel Therrien's balding part.

    Bruce Boudreau's tomato head.

    Joel Quenneville's moustache.

    Sen's first line
    - centred by an unproven 2nd liner (Turris) who had a 21 game goaless drought
    - a 40 year old who was hedging retirement for the past 2 seasons (Alfie)
    - a european rookie (Silfverberg)

The defence is being led by a
    - 38 year old guy that was being booed out of town last year (Gonchar) = now team leading scorer
    - a prospect who struggled in the AHL last year, nearly had a career (& life) ending injury (Wiercioch) = 4th leading scorer

    Goaltending
    - with Anderson hurt using two goalie prospects who had a combined 30 starts before this season (Bishop 17, Lehner 13).

The entire roster is made up of borderline no name NHLers and AHLers/rookies.

Erik Karlsson was leading the team in goals (6) still on March 12th and only passed last week. He's been out since Feb 13th.

Exactly. Maclean has already won the trophy. The other coaches aren't even close.

    Very well said.

Imagine what this guy would do with teams like,

-Washington (Ovechkin, Backstrom, Green, Carlson, Ribero)
-Philadelphia (Giroux, Voracek, Shenn, Read, Hartnell)
-Tampa (Stamkos, St. Louis, Lecavalier, Purcell, Hedman)
-NY Rangers (Nash, Gaborick, Richards, DelZ otto, Stepan, Lundqvist)
-Edmonton (Hall, RNH, Eberle, Schultz, Yakovpov, Gagner)
-Carolina (Staal X2, Semin, Skinner, Jokinen, Tlusty, Ward)
-Colorado (Stasney, Duschene, Parenteau, Landeskog, Johnson)
    -Calgary (Iginla, Tanguay, Cammalleri, Bouwmeester)
-San Jose (Thornton, Marleau, Pavelski, Couture, Boyle, Havlat)

...all of whom are below Ottawa in the standings.

Yah, the talent level of some of those teams is why I've subconsciously hoped for them to tank for a Drouin or Mackinnon. However, they have a high compete level (even year they missed on Landeskog).

Heck, our former first round bust Jim O'Brien! who is essentially a PK/4th line guy, was the player tied in scoring with EK most of the season.
