    Default MacKinnon

    Good morning all,

So as many of you are probably trying to do, I am looking to get MacKinnon on my team some way some how, so I am coming to you guys for some advice. So for all you mackinnon owners out there or people that just like reading/discussing trades.

    Here's some key info:

    • First off this is for the team in my signature
    • I will need to either drop or trade away two people from that team anyways with the return of Koivu and Rinne
    • I can drop two from farm and move saad/palat down that is possible
    • In the past he has expressed interest in Vanek, Kesler, Malkin, Kane
    • Since our last talks I have added E Staal and M Koivu to my team. So I imagine he will like Staal.
    • His goalies are Varlamov, Enroth, Ward, Fasth
    • I am currently in third and going for the 3 peat, but looking at the team in 1st I am not sure that is going to happen.

So what I am thinking is some sort of 2 for 1 or 3 for 2 trade where the person will be swayed enough to accept. My original thoughts:

    I give:
    E.Staal and Nash

    I get:
    Mackinnon

How would you guys feel at the receiving end of that offer? Then I saw his goalies and thought about that a little more. Especially with the move of Miller to St. Louis, maybe I throw a goalie into the deal.. maybe Niemi? If Kesler moves to Pitt I would probably move him instead (but his value will probably be up to others), so maybe I take advantage of that.

What do you guys think, open to a lot of possibilities here.

    Thanks,
    Drift

Too much IMO. I'd take out Staal and try Kesler/Nash instead.

I would try a Staal + prospect type deal first. MacKinnon is definitely the upgrade on an individual basis but I would always go in low and work something out that way.

I made this offer for MacKinnon and it was rejected pretty quickly.

Backstrom (WAS), Coyle, Quick and a early 2nd rounder.

Wow.... the guy is good but that seems like a very solid price for the guy. Number 1 center, number 1 goalie, good prospect in coyle.

Thank you for the reply's everyone. Seems like I am in the ball park for an offer the guy would actually respond to/notice haha.

I would go for Kesler, Vanek and a pick.

He may, or may not buy into the possibility of those guys landing in premium spots (i.e. Pitts.)

Imagine you holding on to Vanek and he signs with NJ next year and Kesler staying put on the 2nd line in Vancouver?!

Just to offer some context, I offered Henrik Sedin, Daniel Sedin for MacKinnon, a small draft pick upgrade, and a middling draft pick yesterday.

    I was turned down.

But to give you an example of what I would pay for MacKinnon and of how hard he is to acquire.

I would assume the problem with you in most trade propositions is that the end user must be like ''Hey, Dobber might know something I don't here, so no deal!''

I remember everyone laughing when Dobber reaffirmed his stance on Mackinnon, predicting 69 points (hedging a bit to the mid-60s); however, now that Mackinnon is firmly entrenched in the Avs' top6, and on an 11-game point streak, it looks like Mackinnon is going to LOL his way to 70 points this season.

    What say you, Mackinnon naysayers?

I offered Kessel for Mackinon about 5-6 weeks ago and was rebuffed. If the Mackinon owner is out of contention this year I doubt he will be willing to move the guy. Most people are projecting Mack to be the next Tavares with a faster learning curve.

Pretty much this. 11-game point streak, on pace or 65+ points as a rookie. 30-30 candidate already at the tender, young age of 18. B-b-b-b-b-bad time to buy. B-b-b-b-bad to the bone this kid is ...

Happens all the time. I often - not always, but often - have to lose deals to get it done and help my big picture. This is an example of that. I'm also considering offering the twins for Nichushkin and Johansen and picks...I'm not quite there yet, but it's an example of losing the deal because I think maybe a year from now I'd win

It's the price to pay to be the King of Fantasy hockey I guess

As much as I like Nichu and RJ, you can't pass up MacKinnon if the manager has a slight interest in moving him... the window to land him at a *cough* discount *cough* is fading every day!

Not gonna lie I am not buying on the sedin's either, that ship is sinking fast haha.

Well some interesting stuff now with Lack and Kuemper being on my farm and both being starters (I have 6 starters now!). Thinking of throwing either one of them or Niemi in the deal. I know I am going to be very overpaying here but need to get the guys attention and I feel like I have the depth to absorb it.
