Default Whitney(D)/E.Johnson for Hedman or Larsson

League info's in the sig, but there's a few extra intangibles here.
League is a salary cap and contract league.

I have Ryan Whitney at 4$/1 yr and Johnson at $2/1yr
Can't resign either of them past this season (if there's no 2012-13 season, the contracts carry over to next season)
Larsson (1$/3yrs) and Hedman ($3/2yrs) are both on longer terms

The move gives me an extra roster spot and between $3-$5 cap space (I currently have none)

So the question is it better to have Whitney and Johnson for one season, or to have Larsson or Hedman for a few?

This might be a bit confusing, so feel free to ask questions.

I actually like the move. In the longer term I think you probably upgrade your D and saving a roster spot and some cap space is certainly a consideration in deciding on such a move.

EJ may bang it soon but Larsson is the heir apparent for the Devils and Hedman is a typical slow developing big D who is just going to keep getting better - Whitney is never going to be a top flight D guy in fantasy to my mind and his health issues over the years scare me off.

    I would do it.

I am in total agreement with Shoeless. I'd hate to lose Johnson, but if he's going anyway, Hedman and/or Larsson is an excellent return.

    Shoeless said it very well.

I would do this deal too.

    Go for it.
