Hey guys, a little different from my older post about Price and Ladd vs Reimer and Pietra.
I need a goalie really bad, team is in sig. Smith seems to be pretty solid.
I am rebuilding and could realllyyy use Ladd. Michalek has been injuried off and on for the duration that i've had him. Pietrangelo is the big piece here.
Anyway, i Start 3 LW 3 C 3 RW and 6 D. 2 Goalies.
Keep 18 Players. Trying to really go for it in 2015.
Also, im trading with the same guy, but he traded Price away

In my experience, acquiring goaltenders in some leagues, is fabulously difficult. In many straight points formats, goaltenders are the highest scoring players in the league. In various multi-cat formats, goaltenders account for 25-40% of the CATS for your team.
Therefore, the return on goaltenders is often very high. A Pietrangelo, in many formats, may be a good starting point.
Why would I trade my 100 point goaltender for a 50 point D-man?
In your multi-cat league, Pietrangelo has more value, because he's collecting on about half a dozen CATS. Even still, he will struggle to compete with a Price.
When looking for goaltenders, you will have to consider very carefully what the other guy needs. Fill his needs, at a price you can bear. This may disorganize your team, temporarily. Some work will once again straighten out the roster. Review to see who has an extra goaltender in your league. There are currently about two dozen reasonable options to pursue in the NHL. A guy like Smith is desirable. Target any and all potential options. Even if they aren't your favourite choice, you may have to drive them for a while. Cross your fingers that they have a successful season, then strive to flip them for something you find more comfortable.
Pietrangelo/Michalek/Reimer vs. Smith/Garrison/Ladd
Pietrangelo - solid winning piece, highly valued. Half-a-point a game last year, doesn't make this high water time to get massive return. Hope for return to 50 points.
Michalek - gets little respect in the leagues in which I play, due to inconsistency. Has 60 point potential. I have low interest.
Reimer - Many believe he's destined for a backup role. I tend to be on that ship. I have little interest.
Smith - Phoenix isn't a powerhouse, but he's clearly the #1 and has been a super points getter since arriving. Highly valued. He may outscore the other side of this deal.
Garrison - one of the many middling NHL points D-men. Interesting goal/shot totals. He's 29 years old.
Ladd - after Smith, depending upon my needs, he battles to be the second most interesting piece in the deal. Gotta wonder if he can battle for 70 points.
The offer seems a bit low to me.
1st/3rd D-man, 3rd/4th winger, bench goaltender
for
1st/2nd tender, 1st/2nd winger, 6th D-man
Don't do the trade....it's not worth it
Reimer is the new back up. Bernier is your leafs starter.
