Default 12 In A Row for Penguins

Pens beat the flyers for their 12th win in a row. Longest win streak in the NHL this season. Second longest in franchise history.

Malkin hasn't played in 8 games. Letang has missed the last 3.

Fleury was lights out tonight (bryz was as well). This team has really come together defensively during this run, which is fantastic for us Pens fans and was the reason philly won that playoff series last year.

Morrow will arrive tomorrow. Malkin and Letang shouldn't be out long-term. Most don't think Shero is done making moves.

Who can beat this squad in a 7 game series?
    10 Teams, Keep 15

pretty sure the pens always have a hot march and then fizzle out again come the playoffs. pens need to get it done when it counts.

But that would ruin the Leafs-Canucks Final that would foreshadow the end of the Earth.

You mean like making the playoffs each of the past 5 years despite long-term injuries to Crosby, Malkin and Letang. Including 2 cup finals in that span (nobody has more) and a championship (nobody has won more than one)? Yeah, they should do that. Oh wait...

Ha! Valid point. And Vokoun isn't the savior back up many fans thought he'd be

MAF hasn't allowed more than a goal in any of his last 4 games, though he had a stretch from Feb 28 into early March where he didn't allow less than 3 goals in 4 games. His season numbers have grown into respectable ones at 2.31 GAA and .914 SV%.

Vokoun started out nice (6 goals against in his first 4 games), but many are finally realizing the Pens are overpaying a back up goaltender.

Here's to hoping Fleury gets/stays hot into the playoffs!

The big thing will be that this hot streak is probably going to ensure they avoid the dreaded 4-5 matchup that they have been stuck with every year since (and including) the year they won the Cup. That's five straight years of 4-5 doom. That matchup virtually guarantees that a good team gets knocked out or wiped out every season. Look at Philly-Pitts last year. The Penguins get knocked out and the Flyers get wiped out by how physical the series was. Those were arguably the two best teams in the East last year and the first round killed them both.

The counter argument is that when the Penguins did win it all they did it from the 4-seed so it does still come down to performance but we still know that health and matchups are nearly as important as performance when it comes to playoff time.

13 in a row, gents. 1-0 tonight over Montreal. Crosby goal.

Fleury injured in the final minute of the second - looked like a neck injury. Guy was stellar prior to leaving for the 3rd period. Vokoun was great in relief. If Fleury is out long-term, this streak is in jeopardy.

Pens have beaten the only two other good teams in the East twice each during this streak.

    Letang returned tonight.

Pens have as many wins during this streak as the flyers have all season. Yes.

    It's been impressive no doubt.

Ironically, I think it'll soon after they're fully healthy and Malkin's back
