Default Good or not for my trade ?

    Hi everybody,

It's a good trade for me ? I think Oshie is the best player in the trade and i don't think i can found a Oshie at the 11 spot for the next draft...

    Oshie+5 picks-63 overall FOR ME VS. Killorn+ 1st pick-11 overall

Ya, I'll take Oshie here. The 11th overall isn't anything exciting, and Killorn doesn't quite have the Oshie upside or pedigree, but he's not that far behind him.

    Still, I take Oshie.

If it's the league in your sig, I'd rather the 11th overall pick. With 13 teams and 10 keepers per team, there should be some players that you can draft that would be much better options than Oshie.

I was assuming it was an 11th overall prospect pick. My fault. Newf is right then, keep the pick.

i say make the trade. You'll have Oshie all wrapped up and you wont have to worry about waiting for him or somebody like him in the draft. Killorn doesnt excite me at all. with 70 fwds being kept that leaves not much in way of fwds at #71. according to my league stats (which are close, but not teh same) #71 is Brad Marchand with 53 points..and at 11th pick you have the likes of JCarter, Dubinsky, Kadri, Fisher available as fwds... just going by PNTS

    i dunno....i think i take the deal.

He propose me T.Bozak instead Oshie.... Bozak, with .84pts/g, play 80% with Kessel...

Which one is better, Oshie or Bozak ?

I'd still rather the 11th pick. There's going to be a lot of good goalies thrown back in the draft, plus a lot of good players.

Oshie just had a career year at the age of 27. There's good odds he doesn't have another one at the age of 28. Bozak just had a career year at the age of 28, and has never hit 50 points.

To help me see if I'm on the right track with this, give me an idea of the type of players that were taken, say, 9th through 13th last year.

Weiss @ 8th doesn't make sense to me. Hell, 4 through 10, except Backes, are very sketchy.

Makes sense to me from last summer. A lot of people thought he would be a 60-point second-line centre with the Wings.

    Interesting thread.
    I don't know.

    1. Your team is bad right now. Young. Re-building.
    2. So, you are looking for your team to peak in about 2-3 years.
    3. There are 13 teams keeping 7F, 3D, 1G. That's 91 forward keepers. The #91 forward in the NHL will typically score about 48pts. With your 11th overall pick, you might be looking at forward #97 or #98... which is still a 47pt forward.

Thus, Oshie (who I'd call a 60pt player), represents a +13pt increase on the forward you could instead pick at #11.
So it would seem as if Oshie is the better side.
As a direct NOW decision... he is...

    But read on.

    The REAL question is this:
Since you are in "re-build"... how many teams in your league are going to be taking a prospect in those first 11 picks???
In some leagues, the 1st/2nd/3rd overall picks might be prospects like Bennett, Reinhart, Draisatl... in other leagues (with partial keepers) they might all be experienced players.

Now... the value of these top picks THIS year isn't as high as previous years, but these are still going to be 65-70pt players down the road.
That's BETTER value than Oshie... IF... IF you can get him.

The other thing to keep in mind is this:
    1. You take Oshie... that's good for 60pts.
    2. You take a rookie... that's good for 30-40pts.

Your team is WORSE with the rookie. THIS IS GOOD.

The 2015 entry draft has two incredible prospects: McDavid & Eichel.
You NEED/WANT to be able to get one of these guys next summer.

How you get that pick depends on your league settings... but set yourself up to get that pick.
In most leagues... rebuilding teams should STAY BAD... as bad as possible, so that they get McDavid & Eichel.

For these reasons, I'd keep the #11 pick and take a rookie (Bennett, Reinhart, or Draisatl) so that your team can remain bad this year, but better 2-3 years from now.

Bozak if JvR stays in TO. If Leafs trade JvR, it would prolly be to either move up in the draft, or for a D-man, so it’s not like the asset coming back would benefit Bozak next yr. If you can wait till past the draft, I’d take Bozak, if it has to be now I’d take Oshie. Bozak is just to dependant on JvR and Kessel to be fantasy relevant.
