    Default Studs & Duds - Monday, 03/25/13

    Studs & Duds

"We had a WILD time last night!": 7 goals on 42 shots led to 11 Wild members getting on the scorer's sheet. 8 of the 11 scorers had 2 points or more: Cullen - 1G,1A; Bouchard - 1G,1A; Koivu - 1G,1A; Brodziak - 1G,1A; Parise - 2G,1A; Stoner - 2A; Clutterbuck - 2A; Spurgeon -2A. The Wild are officially on a 6 game winning streak. In the last12 games they have compiled a 9 -3 record. Someone is making a playoff push.

"King of the Hill": A showdown between the Chicago Blackhawks, who many consider the best team in hockey, took place versus the best team in hockey last year, the defending Stanley Cup Champion Los Angeles Kings. The Kings came out on top 5-4.

In a losing effort, Michael Frolik led the Hawks in scoring with 2G,1A. Kane (1G) and Toews(1G,1A) both scored and Duncan Keith potted 3 assist.

I love the matchup between these two team. Could this be a Conference Final preview?

Fantasy Spin: I'm sure a lot of poolies will rush out to grab Frolik if he is on the WW. You better check Hossa's status before doing so as he is only keeping Marian's seat warm.

"Old Reliable": Rinne posts his 3rd consecutive win while posting a .923sv%. I think he's rounding into form and is due for another shutout sooner than later. If it happens in the next 3 games, don't come asking me for winning tickets to the powerball. They'll already be out of my pocket.

    Killing Them SOFTLY:

Nasty "Naz": Add an assist on top of 4 shots for his 35th point in 33 games now. This kid is unreal and is deserving of the #1 center spot

Easy Parise: 11pts in past 8 games - 3 of those games being multi-point performances, including last night's performance. He's really come on after what many considered a slow start to the season.

Kyle Turris: This guy has been a beast all year, stepping up in Spezza's absence. He's not at a Kadri pace, but 22pts in 33gp is nothing to sneeze at, especially when you have 9pts in the last 8 games.

    Duds

Kari "Let 'em in": Kari was a revolving door for pucks last night. He got lit up and ended the night with a sparkling .854sv%. No worries, Kari just ran into a hot team. Prior to this game, he played quite well so I'd expect a bounce back.

"Tin Man leaking oil":Well, another 1 goal loss from the Oilers. DD finishes the night with a .885sv% stopping 23 of26 shots. Dubnyk owners need him to seriously put togethera stretch similar to what he did at the close of last season. Coming into last night's game Dubnyk suffered 2 overtime losses in the previous 3 games. Smoke 'em if you got 'em. Close but no cigar, sir. Sometimes you just have STEAL a game here and there Devan!

"You get one shot in life and none in a game?": Seguin with no points. It is very difficult to score with out taking a single shot. Unacceptable for a player of his caliber.
