Default Best from the rest - 2012 draft

The following players selected in the 2012 draft have already been taken in my league.

    Yakupov
    Murray
    Galchenyuk
    Reinhart
    Rielly
    Lindholm
    Dumba
    Forsberg
    Grigorenko
    Faksa
    Teravainen
    Vasilevskiy
    M. Subban

Who would you target in a point only league... I am in a full rebuild mode, so I can be very patient (first 2-3 years are irrelevent).

Trouba is the first name that stands out. Pouliot is in a great situation in Pittsburgh. As a Habs fan, I keep an eye on Collberg and Hudon (which could be a steal in the 5th round).

    Thanks for your help.

Player like collberg hudon aberg are great prospect but it will take couple of years before they play in nhl so far away before they put great number on board.

There is some I look by the past to draft in 2012. Most of them are D.

    Trouba
    Ceci
    Pouliot
    Koekkoek
    Hertl
    Dansk

You can buy the Dobber prospect report where those guy are list with descriptions and forecast. It's really complete and well write.

I like Pouliot alot, especially since Morrow was traded. I think he can still fly under the radar though.

Trouba is a great player, but in a points-only league, he may not be worth as much as he would in a multi-cat pool.

Is Kari Ramo still available by any chance?

He is, but I can't lock him up long term due to his age.

    Thanks.

If you can be patient, I would lean towards drafting a defense heavy group in that draft, as D generally take more time to develop. Then trend towards forwards in upcoming years. 2013 and 2015 should have good top end forwards

Tanner Pearson had quite a good AHL season and could make the Kings next season.

Trouba, Hertl and Pouliot are your 3 best options.

I would add Matheson I think he is underrated.

Wilson and Girgensons does'nt have a big upside but I like the progression of both this year.

Pearson and Griffith could be in the NHL soon.

Kevin Roy could be a sleeper but it should be a long wait. Kind of boom or bust.

Hertl is your guy. Very, very good player, and with SJ not having much high-end talent in their farm system Hertl has a great opportunity to make a significant impact with the Sharks over the next couple of years.

I'm going to put in a plug for Daniil Zharkov. I think he will develop nicely in the pro game.

Yes and yes! He's by far my top forward outside the guys you've listed and Trouba is by far my top d-man.
