I know in ESPN, the elite players values go up, even if they are high at the start. I wonder if that will happen here too. Is Crosby a "good value" right now compared to mid-year?

I don't see Crosby's value right now as being very good - I think it will go down right at the start of the season because guys aren't going to roster him at the price he is at as much as they will later on when they have cash to burn. So I see an initial dip in price and then a climb back up later in the season.

As long as he stays healthy, I don't see Crosby's value swinging a lot.

If Spezza stays healthy, how is he not one of the best bargains in this game?

Can anyone else find me a 1st line center, top pp player, for that much money?

You're correct there Mr. Guru - the caveat is his health but even if he is injured later - his value to start the season is very high. I actually have Kesler and Weiss pegged for better value over a season but not starting out with Spezza on your roster does seem a little silly.

Ryan represents pretty good value as well if he comes out on fire.

I couldn't believe it when I saw his value, and made him an immediate member of my team.

I might pen an article on some guys with a low price tag.

    Suggestions?

Besides the guys mentioned, Karlsson is under $5 million. I think he's ninth or something among dmen. Beauchemin has a higher salary.

Yep, Karlsson is good value for sure. Among the goalies, Lehtonen, Price and Quick will save you 4-5 million compared to the most expensive guys. Halak and Markstrom are even cheaper if you are a gambler.

Brent Burns listed as a D at 3.62 is good value on the blue line, Pekka Rinne is 19th salaried goalie at 6.91 is good value for the goalie market as well.

Is Rinne going to be healthy to start the season though? Last I heard there were some questions about that. Steve Downie currently costs $1.6 million, which doesn't make him a true steal, but if you have $1.6 million and one open wing spot, he's a guy who might surge in value with the right linemates. If he clicks with Duchene, or Roy decides he wants someone to protect MacKinnon, he could be very useful.
