Is MDZ the answer to anyone's problem at this point? I just don't see him being a valued contributor anywhere...

He definitely does not replace Timonen. He'll get a few points though.

What 's his role there? PP2 guy with sheltered minutes? He's not very good defensively.

if they don't already have someone in their system that can bring what this guy brings at a cheaper price I think they have some serious problems

I'n not sure they do - with both Pronger and Timonen out, their defensive depth looks like:

    Streit
    MacDonald
    Coburn
    L. Schenn
    Grossman
    N. Schultz
    del Zotto

I don't follow Philly closely, but I haven't heard anything that would lead me to believe that any of their young guys are ready for the NHL.

    Yep, I called this one.

I think he will do just fine in Philly actually. Could be a good fit for both.

That was quick. I don't think he'll hit any career highs but i'll have my fingers crossed for 30 points

Yeah - One of those guys who might have been a star had his development been handled properly

thinking like this will never let you buy low on players. MDZ is what...23 years old or something? half the guys i knew at that age were virgins. he posted 40 points and like 100+ blocks and hits not too long ago, the rest of his seasons were essentially pretty bad but he still managed 20 point pace.

not saying he's gonna go back to being a young stud D, but if he can get 30-35 points, 10 PPP, 100 blocks, 100 hits...would that not be a great value for someone who you could probably snag last round in the draft? in cap leagues 1.3M is dirt cheap, these are the type of dmen you need to load up on so you can spend big money on better forwards.
