    Default (Trade) TOR- Lombardi-Phoenix

Lomardi to PHX for conditional picks.

Nothing too big but this does get some salary off the books.

Apparently the deal is for a 4th which turns into a 3rd if he re-signs with PHX.

Toronto retained some of Lombardi's salary as well

And it opens a roster spot which I think is the key. The Leafs need more of this to open up legit spots for Frattin, Kadri, etc.

Exactly. Leafs are in rebuild mold. Expect them to give these kids an opportunity to show what they got. Please dont mess things up!!!!

My first thought is this means Kadri has made the team. I would be shocked if he didn't...

Or maybe there trying to free up some money to trade there kids and take on contracts, like idiots again. Who knows with these clowns...

I'd say Frattin has the edge of Kadri, just based on camp/practices.

And don't get the second part of your post.

    I believe he means..

    1) Make some salary cap room
    2) Trade the prospects/kids for experience players (comes with salary)
    3) Screw up is that the experienced players are middling talents that will not win a cup.

Considering their centers are Vermette, Hanzal, Gordon and Chipchura I would say yes although my guess is someone moves to the wing (either Lombardi himself or one of those guys) to make it fit. He's also got to overcome the injury bug but Phoenix has done well fielding a roster with a bunch of professionals but not big stars so Lombardi could work there especially when you consider that Phoenix is where he had the best season of his career with 53 points.

This trade is a natural fit for everyone if you ask me.

Phoenix is great at bringing in guys that seem unappealing to most and getting good value out of everyone.

Fan 590 said this might happen a few days ago... Apparently Lombardi was already skating in Phoenix with guys on the Coyotes during the lockout.

I've always like Lombardi... I didn;t think he was given much of a shot in Toronto. I like ericdaoust's comment about PHO getting value out of their players.
