    Default Conacher vs Tarasenko

Two white hot guys out fo the gate, looking dominant, but curious as to who would be the better long term option.

VT is 2 yrs younger (their birthdays are one day apart interestingly) at 21, and has long been considered to have a much higher upside - but I think that might be different now.

I love the way both play, and CC has been impressing the hell out of me - not a timid player at all depite his size, gives 100% from what i have seen.

    CC - 8GP: 5G, 7A, 12 pts, 12 SOG, 6 PIM, 1 PPG, ATOI 14:19
    VT - 8GP: 5G, 5A, 10 pts, 26 SOG, 8 PIM, 1 PPG, ATOI 15:00

Pretty even except VT has way more shots...and the same goals. Insane S% for CC which obviously won't stay that high.

One major thing to consider is the KHL factor - a very fair thing to consider regardless of what a player says about returning to Russia.

I own VT in 2 and CC in only one keeper, and am considering making an offer of VT for Conacher as the central core of the deal(s) in at least 1.

Am I way off in comparing these two? Conacher seems to have transitioned from the AHL like it was nothing.

(maybe a mod could fix the title of the thead for me?

Tarasenko was drafted and Cory was not. Both have played against men the past couple years. Both will have nice linemates. I would go Tarasenko in goal heavy leagues or points only. If it's PIM, Conacher may have a slight edge, especially if he eventually ends up flanking Stamkos. However, Tara is a building block. Cory is a complimentary piece. Tara will mean more to St.L. than Cory will be for TB.

I own Conacher but I'd prefer Tarasenko since he's got the size and 2 less years of development. If they were the same age, there might be a bigger difference to see. TB doesn't give Conacher any ice time so it seems like they might not fully trust him yet.

In a keeper I would go with Tarasenko. In a one year league I would be a little more inclined to go with Conacher.

Tarasenko for me.....Conacher has been great so far this season, and I do think he can post nice numbers through his career. But I don't see him becoming a superstar in the NHL, while with Tara I think that possibility is definitely there. While CC could become even a 70 point player in the league, I'd say that's about his ceiling. That's what Tara's floor should be eventually.

In a one-year frame, I agree with Essej and maybe lean towards Conacher. Although I don't think the STL depth will hurt Tarasenko in the long term, this year if he slows down at some point he might get buried a bit, being a rookie. But in a keeper, it's Tarasenko by a decent margin imo.

Easy choice - Tarasenko. He's on a higher level altogether.
I can't promise I'll try but I'll try to try.

I'll take Tarasenko because I think his body will hold up better over the years. The 'tank' will also play through injury as he did in the WJC gold medal game 2 years ago. Maybe stereotyping but that's how I feel.

Edit: Also prefer Tarasenko from a talent perspective as well

I'll take Tara because he's a stud in the making. Conacher is complimentary player, he can't do it all on his own. He will still be a solid fantasy producer, just not what Tara is going to be..
