OK, I'm in a 12 team, keep 7, points league and I've been gutting my team for 1st round picks next year. In my estimation there's a bigger difference between the 1st and 2nd round of the draft then there is between my keepers and my exposed players. That coupled with the fact that every keeper I send to another team forces them to expose another quality player thereby increasing the value of the picks I've just aquired.
So far I've moved Pedroia, Scherzer and Papelbon for 1st rounders next year.
My remaining potential keepers are:
Stanton (definitely keeping)
Bumgarner (definitely keeping)
Castro (keeping)
Granderson (keeping)
J. Zimmerman (probably keeping)
Dunn (maybe keeping)
Prado
Lucroy
Hosmer (kept last year...doh)
Bucholz
M Harvey (just used my waiver priority to grab him)
T Bauer
J Parker
Our league does not value SB much at all so speedsters really don't mean much. Pitchers with high K totals and dominant closers are very valuable.
What I'd like to know is:
1) am I nuts?
2) are any of the youngsters listed above worth keeping?
3) are there any other prospects I could target who might be worth keeping in my format? Everyone on the Dobber prospect list is available.
Thanks

Thanks for the reply dm...tough crowd around here...over 30 views and one response. Guess there are many more questions than answers out there.
So if Bauer becomes a keeper for me that leaves one more slot to fill.
Part of me thinks that Hosmer will turn it around but I don't know if there's any point keeping him because I could just draft him in the middle rounds anyway.
I've just picked up Profar...anyone think he might be good enough to hold onto? I'd have to hope he qualifies somewhere other than SS because I was planning on keeping Castro.
Can anyone offer any opionions on Harvey or Parker as potential keepers?
I know not all of these guys are technically 'prospects' but it seemed the most suitable forum for this post.
Thanks guys
The way I see it, you have six sure fire keepers (Stanton, Bumgarner, Castro, Granderson, Zimmermann and Dunn) and I would want to protect a high upside, young pitcher with your last spot.
That's why I'm keeping Bauer here. Parker or Buchholz are not a sexy keeper pick, but you know what you're going to get with them. Harvey and Bauer fit that description perfectly, but Bauer was always the MUCH higher rated prospect.
In addition to that, you want some balance in terms of pitcher-batter ration with your keepers and this way you protect four hitters and three pitchers.

Stanton
Bumgarner
Castro
Dunn
Zimmerman
Granderson
Bauer
is who I'd keep all high upside players who should for the most part get better with the exception of (Dunn and Granderson) but they are proven and are very good
Straight Points keeper league. Keep 5 Forwards,3 defence,1 goalie.
F: Nicklas Backstrom, Joe Thornton, Henrik Zetterberg, Zach Parise, Logan Couture
D: Erik Karlsson, Alex Pietrangelo, Oliver Ekman-Larsson
G: Sergei Bobrovsky
OK, great advice guys! Thanks.
I did pick up Profar and will watch him closely if he gets a callup but it seems unlikely he could be protected.
I would definitely keep Bauer...
I personally like Parker- he's gonna be awesome keeper.
I would stay away from any SP or any players from the Mets...
Good luck!!!
Your 5, no Dunn.
Harvey is a easy keep.
Profar, but i like Hosmer to rebound.
