Seems to me like they desperately need a top line Centre, because they have good depth everywhere else. If I was Ron Francis, I would be aggressively pursuing Galchenyuk in exchange for a package including Jake Bean or Haydn Fleury. Habs need to replenish their defensive prospects cupboard so there could be scope there for a trade.

Ron Francis has been making the 1 step back, 2 steps forward kind of deals pretty much since he came on board

Clearly they have built a very solid blueline but the forwards are a bit lacking in size/grit/truculence IMHO

The team is 15 million UNDER the cap so clearly they are operating under a self imposed cap and they are still paying Alex Semin NOT to play hockey for them

not sold on the forward depth but a lot to like with this club

Hey, Memphis might as well be a suburb of Vancouver! Just like Glendale and Phoenix are effectively interchangeable, right? Or Kanata and Ottawa? If Gary Bettman has taught me anything, regardless of where you put a team, the fans will come.

I find it extremely humerous that you mention Galchenyuk as a possible trade candidate for the Canes who are looking for a top line center. Guess what Montreal needs too? You guessed it, a top line center. Just ask Julien or Bergervin; Galchenyuk is NOT a top line center. Hell, he's not even a center let alone a top line center.

I think Lindholm and Rask can effectively split the work, with Lindholm growing into the role eventually. Staal can continue to face tough matchups (as can Lindholm) until Lindholm takes over as top C.

On the Galchenyuk thing, you might be right, though I won't put much stock into Bergevin's assessments... maybe Julien, but even then....

Totally agree- how does Bergevin have one iota of credibility after that Subban trade?? Hes probably half the reason Galchenyuks been left to bake in purgatory so long. Hes the tiniest step above Chiarelli-esque levels of ineptitude...

The previous coach didn't like him at center either. I am not sure he's a fit for center but stranger things have happened I suppose.

    Big Country Reeves....

Man, what a debacle for that franchise and for many of those years, the Raptors looked a lot worse...

I do remember Sharif Abdur-Rahim. Dynamic player for that franchise.. Dark moment when Steve Francis pouted at his own draft, but he was a dick who never amounted to much anyway.

I remember reading an article from the Carolina GM (I think?) who said Aho needs one more season playing wing and then they'll move him to center. I don't know if he can be their #1C but sounded like they might try that at least.

We need to see them try Skinner and Aho together on the top line. So this could make that happen, it could be great

That’s interesting. It surprised me at first glance but he was playing center at the U20 tourney between Laine and Pulj wasn’t he?
