The signing of Miller makes me think Helm will hit the market. Miller is a great penalty killer, but not much else. However letting a player like Helm walk in hopes of signing someone else could really backfire on them.

Datsyuk, Quincey and Richards are off the books.....and if Helm goes too and add in Vitale that's $15.7 million freed up. Mrazek, Marchenko and Pulkkinen and Dekeyser are RFAs.

I also thinks it's a very good possibility either Tatar or Nyquist get dealt for some D help. Depends what they can do with FAs though.

Man that Franzen contract is killing them.
Four more years of it too… At least it tails down to 1 million for the last two seasons.

Not for nothing...but Dylan Sadowy got a hat trick in their prospect camp game today. Lots of other reports on guys like Smith, Hicketts and Bertuzzi in there too.

Can't believe it's already kind of starting up.

Lines beginning to form for the Wings....but only in pairings so far.

    Helm-Vanek
    Nielsen-Zetterberg
    Larkin playing C
    Ott-Glendening-Miller (doing great in preseason)

Note after tonight's game from Blashill. Probably not a good sign.

Mantha scored the game-winning goal but “I didn’t think him or AA were good enough, to be honest with you,” Blashill said. “They’ve got to be better than that. These are big games for those guys and you've got to be better.

Just preseason but the entire Wings team seemed to be scoring during their 6-1-1 stretch.

    Monday's lines........

    Zberg-Nielsen-Tatar
    Abdelakder-Larkin-Sheahan
Nyquist-Helm-Vanek (that pass from Vanek to Nyquist vs Toronto gives me some hope)
    Miller-Glendening-Ott

Mantha rotating in with Larkin line. AA rotating with Nyquist line.

Wow this might be the worst centre group in the nhl. I don't see how this is a payoff team

Any idea why Nyquist is on the 3rd line? I don't follow the Red Wings all that much, but I acquired Nyquist in a trade this summer, was sort of convinced he was going to be on the 1st line, worst case 2nd line. This is sort of bumming me out.

Wings haven't really operated with "numbered lines" for a couple years now. More of a top 9 with a 4th grind line. I wouldn't be worried.

Not sure what you mean. I was just surprised how weak their centre depth is. For fantasy as well, this team is one to avoid.

Yep. this is Big Ev, sure enough. No one else in the history of these boards has ever been that self-unaware.

Would anyone trade Larkin for Brassard or Turris?
I'm talking real NHL too. I don't think so.

And Nielson & Turris are basically the same point wise.
Hmmmm not such bad Centers after all.
