Do you think Vanek could be had for a package like that? Then consider that Eberle is better player with A LOT better contract status. So yeah, that wouldn't be even close in getting Eberle out of Edmonton, sorry.

    Fair enough.

We're crowded on the left so how about McNabb + Vanek + Adam?

Well I'm no Edmonton fan but comparing Vanek's and Eberle's contracts, that should be automatically declined. They'd take a 6 million higher salary that's a lot closer to UFA-years. Doesn't make much sense for the Oilers.

I really don't see a scenario where Edmonton would trade Eberle. He's a good old Canadian boy and loves Edmonton. I can see him spending his entire career there and if they move one of their young stars, Hall or Yakupov should go well before Eberle.

    Sorry

Keep dreaming about Ryan though as that's a realistic fantasy to have. Though I don't see that 2nd line C you could offer to Anaheim in that deal now that Roy has already been traded.

Yeah and that's the sticking point that I mentioned post Roy trade. Dunno how that would work, unless they'd take Adam + Leopold or Sekera + ???

Roy was the key piece to that puzzle. Which is why I am trying to look off the grid - so to speak.

I think Anaheim has a solid D already so Leopold and Sekera wouldn't really help them. Atleast Leopold who's UFA in a year. Sekera's contract would be sweet for them though (a lot higher cap hit than they'd actually have to pay him from now on as it was heavily front-loaded). But they need help on offense a lot more than on defense if they deal Ryan. Adam could be a part of the deal though. Stafford could be another piece they'd have interest as well as your top prospects (Armia, Grigorenko, Girgensons). Don't know how untouchtable those are for you but in a deal for a player like Ryan you'd need to give up something you don't want to give up.

Oh absolutely, agreed on that point.

Adam, Staff (and, hell, anyone on the LW), and Armia would def all be in play. I wouldn't think G&G would be available if only because of our shortage at that position, but i suppose Girgenson could be in play.

Trouble I have with any attempt at acquiring Ryan...in fact my only hesitation...is ok, fine...Sabres get him. Now what? Who's is center going to be on the top line?

Point being, we're right back to square-one. Or is Ryan the type of player ya get if he can be got....and worry about the rest afterwards?

Sabres just signed another brawler, Nick Tarnasky from the KHL. Don't know much about the lad, other than....well, he fights.

TJ Brennan also re-signed. More d-men!!

Sabres are tweeting that "He" signed. Speculation is that it's Grirgorenko. Keep ya posted...

...in other news. Sabres VP in charge of tweets has been fired.

Grigs did sign, by the way. Standard ELC. Details not yet disclosed but it's assumed it will be the max $900k.

Patrick Kaleta re-signed for 3 years today

    John Vogl @BuffNewsVogl
The Sabres and Patrick Kaleta have agreed to a three-year contract worth $3.825 million. Cap hit and salary are $1.275 million each year.
Pesky POS lol, having him and Ott on the same team is going to be infuriating for opposing teams.

[ugh]...with this lockout I have hardly been in the mood to post. I have just shifted my focus to football. Not the same, but it's better than listening to Bettman's whiny cackle.

That said, it is time for yours truly to quit wallowing in self pity, and get to posting more regularly on your fav Buffalo hockey players. So...without further ado may I introduce to you, your new...and improved Rochester American-Sabres!!!

That's right peeps Marcus Foligno, Cody Hodgson, Zemgus Girgensons, in addition to Luke Adam, Corey Tropp, Jerome Gauthier-Leduc, Brayden McNabb, T.J. Brennan, Mark Pysyk et al will all be playing for the Rochester Americans.

    AND......

While the Amerks have already moved one game to the FNC, it was just recently announced that they will hold training camp there as well.

So....that's not such bad crop of young guns to watch. Like my dear ol'Pappy used to say "Gimme lemons and I'll smack the shit outta ya! I'm allergic to lemons!!"

[sniff]...he was so full of love.
