I just think the Canucks are complacent because at half effort they are better than most teams. This happened at the end of last year as well when they went through a few periods of weak play.

They were fine when the playoffs started.

I'm not sure I believe any of this, sounds like a lot of posturing to me but definitely worthy of discsussion

Gillis is an annoying wanker but he's not dumb. He threw Cody Hodgson under the bus after the fact but it really does sound like there was a mandate to play the snot out of him and get as much value as possible.

Makes sense that Gillis would say that they might bring Luongo back so as not to sound too desperate and to try and extract as much value as possible in the deal.

So peeps, our beloved GM M.G. drafted a new face to the franchise...Cody Hodgson.
Oops! I meant Brendan Gaunce ..thoughts on him?

Big, rangy, nose for the net..must work on his skating and foot speed. Ha! A mini Milan Lucic?! Oh wait, thats Z Kassian - the guy we got for C.H. Gaunce reminds me maybe of a Burrows/Marchand type player..not exactly an elite top 1/2 line scorer but a complimentary scorer of a 2 way/checking line type. Anyways, will wait and see. Congrats to our Canucks on our 1st rd pick!

Ladies and Gentz, welcome Brendan Gaunce

    P.S. I miss C.H.

Ya looks like a good pick, another big player to go with Jensen and Kassian.
Be interested to how he does in camp!

Unrestricted free agent Aaron Rome hasn't been offered a contract extension according to his agent and the Vancouver Canucks defenceman will test the open market July 1. Same story for UFA centre Andrew Ebbett who confirmed via a text message that he has suffered the same contract fate. Meanwhile, restricted free agent defencemen Marc-Andre Gragnani and Ryan Parent along with wingers Victor Oreskovich and Mike Duco weren't tendered qualifying offers by today's 2 p.m. Pacific deadline and become UFAs.

    Thanks for those links hawkdog.

Just a heads up, that globeandmail article was from two years ago...James Mirtle was really adamant on Twitter that this was a good signing for the Canucks.

Thanks Bondon, the globe and mail article link is actually embedded in the Canucks Army article. 2 years old but thought it was kinda cool having all those canucks dmen in the top ten!!

I am a little concerned at the length but overall I think the Canucks really needed another big solid defensive guy on the blue line, its a bonus he can put pucks in the net!

Somewhere in beautiful british columbia, Gillis is thinking...

" I dont have to do anything, we are presidents trophy winner ...back to back "

Then, few months later.."calgary did what? AVS signed who? Oilers drafted someone like Bure? Minny has gone wild and landed who? Oh what, him too?"

Gillis, "oh shit....its OK, we got Garrisson and the best goalie tandem eeevvvverr
    Who needs offense! "

Hey Gillis! Stop mesmerizing the view and do something! !

Moment of terror today as I was playing a random game with the Minnesota Wild against the Canucks and I dangled the hell out of Garrison with Matt Kassian to score shorthanded lol. Just thought that was kind of funny/horrifying.

If there is one thing I learned from Tron and the Matrix, is what happens in the game, happens in real life. Eeeee gad!
