Getting to take Dubois at 4th is big plus for the nucks here. Fans should be very happy if that's the road that is traveled when the draft rolls around.

The Canucks cannot do a single thing right.

Jared McCann for Erik Gudbranson. 1 for 1 the Canucks are giving up too much. But to add in a 2nd round pick as well? *facepalm*

Nothing against Gudbranson particularly, but I liked McCann's game.

I agree. No idea what they're thinking here.

Not sure why your so upset.
    1. Its the going rate - see Griffin Reinhart deal at last years draft - similar deal, similar style dman
    2. the nucks are not rebuilding from the ground up. hence they traded for Sutter, Granlund, Etem, Guds. Vey, Baertshi

I am starting to think they trade the fifth overall as well - moving down for a later first and young player
My guess would be NJ or Montreal. Nucks seem to trade with the same teams. NJ needs forwards Montreal likely covets DuBois

How does everyone see the goaltending situation in Vancouver play out? Will Markstrom or Miller start more this season? How soon until Demko is playing in the NHL? Does it really matter who's in net with how bad the team is going to be?

Miller and Markstrom are both under contract for next year. The year after they are both UFA. Given this situation I don't think anyone has a clear picture of how this will turn out. If they play Miller a whole bunch I can't see Markstrom resigning with the Canucks. Maybe they play Markstrom a bunch to start the season and see how it goes, though, I can't see that sitting to well with Miller. If they don't play Demko that won't know what the have for the following year. For what it's worth Miller and Markstrom alternated games for all of March and April.

It'll be a true timeshare next season. Miller won't be back after 2016-17, but I think Markstrom will. Demko will be in the AHL in 2016-17, so he'll only see the NHL if one of Miller or Markstrom is injured. Demko should be on the Canucks full-time in 2017-18 and will push Markstrom for the starting job. That's how I see this playing out.

The Canucks would be better of for Demko's development to let him play in the AHL for ~2-3 years rather than ride the pine behind Markstrom. In 2017/18, Demko needs to be playing games at age 22, not watching them.

I don't disagree with this, but knowing Vancouver/Benning, they may take a swing at Reimer/Ward and see what they can get there. That would just put everything up in the air.

i would hope those guys are only looking at short-term UFAs ..
Certainly in net, where Demko/Mark looks pretty good long term, but also elsewhere...
I wont be happy if Benning gives long term and big $$ to the likes of Ericcsson, Ladd or Lucic ..
4 years or less with any of those guys, fine

The Canucks pick 5th. Unless you're suggesting that they trade up with Edmonton, who picks 4th?

I'd say Tkachuk is gone by the #4 pick. So Dubois would probably make sense for the Canucks.

No way that Benninden goes after Ward or Reimer. Goalies are set - Miller and Markstrom this season. They also signed Garteig this summer for Utica.

Where I don't have confidence is Benning not trading the number 5 pick. Hoping he doesn't.

    Still think they trade Edler.

Sorry, I meant #5.. If it is Dubois, does he play the year in Vancouver??
