    New coach. New captain.

Until then who cares, the team stinks.

Haven't done a Leafs review in a while

Mckegg should be interesting as mentioned above, though I think he has more offensive upside compared to Tucker.
With alot of top 6 time, Clarkson should do good with the added playing time, along with Booth and apparently Panik's been driving possession all game long.

After game I'll post a complete one

Santorelli Smith and Panik were really good tonite

Glad we got a whole 4 minutes of Mckegg and another 3 from ashton and 6 from booth

Seriously, what the hell is that???
Might as well be playing with 9 forwards, like last year

Ya i noticed that, old habits with Carlyle is why he has to leave.

Minnesota Home 3 vs Toronto Away 1 January 2nd 2015

This was ALL Kuemper he stole the show for the Wild. Making 34 saves on 35 shots he was the wilds first star. The leafs players must of felt odd being the ones out shooting their opposition but losing on the scoreboard. awesome we got taught how to play our system tonight....great

The leafs having 46 Shots toward net (includes Missed Shots) were without a doubt the major threat to get scoring chances, yet could not beat Kuemper. His save percentage of 0.971 is unreal, along with only the one goal against.

    Score Review

Franson beat him with a Slap Shot from 36 ft out. Which was only 2:37 into the third on a power play restoring the draw. Assists to Phaneuf and VanRiemsdyk

Jared Spurgeon scored even strength beating Bernier(0.896 GAA) with a slapper from 35 feet(7:23). Assists to Coyle, and Koivu is the scoring play.

Koivu scored at 9:18 slap shot within 25 ft of the cage assists to Vanek and Pomminville . This goal is the one I am interested in the most. Scoring on the power play for the Wild is a rare occurrence.

    Fantasy Hockey Thoughts

If Minnesota can start scoring at a higher percentage of their power play opportunities you will see Parise go from scoring at 0.97 points per game to over 1.00 points per game. mark it

For Toronto, Clarkson saw an increased role in tonight's game getting to take over a share of the minutes Lupul leaves with his injury. He saw a high amount of offensive zone start draws 77%. Being a +6 Corsi on the night is not surprising giving the extra time and loads of chances for the buds. Look to add him in 15 + team Roto leagues.

Many of the above stats are from hockeystats.ca

Just stopped in to say goodbye and good riddance to Randy 'Bo-bandy' Carlyle. My prayers have been answered!!!!

Randy - It has been absolute agony watching this team play your antiquated 'system'. You have been a disaster of a coach and the fact that you eked out a playoff appearance on the back of extraordinary goaltending changes nothing whatsoever. I sincerely hope you've enjoyed your tenure in the NHL because it's now safe to say you should start brushing up on your Russian or just roll in the mountain of cash owed to you by the Leafs because there can't possibly be another franchise silly enough to offer you a coaching job. Can you sharpen skates?

I like this, but not very harsh.

Can’t say I was impressed with Winnik-Kadri-Kessel line. Bad passes leaving the zone, no one could receive it well, and the back breaker for me was Kadri couldn’t enter the zone half the time. Don’t get me wrong, the all-around performance was bad, but I just couldn’t see Kadri as a fit there. He and Santorelli worked very well together, I was hoping they’d stick together.

The hardest working Leaf will sadly not be here next yr I bet. Santorelli. He’s literally the only one I saw back checking every single time last night. I wish you could give players raises/demotions in money on how well they play. Just have every contract bonus lined. Kessel – must have a +/- higher than 10 for $10,000, if below 0 you forfeit $10,000. Dion – must improve foot speed by X amount, if not improved you forfeit $10,000. Lupul – if you play less than 50% of the games, and miss 70% of practices with an DTD injury you will forfeit $10,000.

Well Gardiner was absolutely atrocious last night, it honestly seems like he is getting worse! It was also plain to see last night why Kessel and Kadri cannot be on a line together, they are both poor defensively. I know some fans think that is the answer but if last night was any indication putting them together is a recipe for disaster (and that is despite having Winnik on their line).

What a shambles ..... I would have rather they let Carlyle finish out the season as Horachek is not gonna do any better with this group of players.
