I think you have to go with MacIntyre. It just doesn't matter at this point whether Reimer is hurt or it's just his confidence gone. He's not giving them a chance to win in this stretch The Blues will be such a tough game anyway - I say go with the kid and see if he can get lucky and steal you a huge win.

I have a strong feeling Reimer will get the start, though for the simple reason that Carlyle knows Bernier has concealed just how awful this team is defensively. So right now, with Reimer obviously struggling, he knows another start for him means that's where the blame will be directed, deserved or not. And don't think Randy has forgotten that post game stuff after the Detroit loss.

    I still call bullshit.

There is no way in anyone would have thought they would lose 11 games since the Olympic break. Thats 11 of 15.

I don't care what you say. You will not convince me someone would have predicted this epic collapse.....again.

I don't agree with those people who believe in analytics.

Those people would not have predicted an 8 game losing streak to miss the playoffs. Those people would not have predicted the Leafs to be a comfortable playoff team at the Olympic break.

That is what I am saying.

What you said in November means nothing. You also would have said the Leafs wouldn't have been that high in the standings starting March.

Besides these horrific results post Olympic break, the advance stats/analytics people were dead wrong. And an 8 game losing streak doesn't make them right. Call it what you want. No one would have predicted an 8 game losing streak.

I'm not incredibly well-versed on advanced statistics and analytics in general; however, I'm pretty sure that's exactly what the argument was: that the Leafs were an historically awful possession-driving team, and their relative success early in the season was based on HUGE performances from guys like Kessel and top-quality Goaltending from Bernier for most of the year. The analytics crowd has been saying this all year long, that the Leafs would probably turn into a pumpkin before midnight, and ultimately miss out on the playoffs ... because they're not a good team.

Now that it's coming to fruition you can't say that the analytics crowd was wrong because they failed to predict exactly how many games in a row the Leafs would lose. They called out a huge problem with how the Leafs have been playing, and now everyone sees it. Even the casual "just watch the games" fan.

They've been making the same arguments for the last 100+ games, throughout most of which the team has been thoroughly overperforming. Nobody is trying to say that the Leafs haven't had success, just that it's a mirage rather than an indicator of future performance.

I just don't agree with it.

Those same pundits wouldn't have put the Leafs that high in the standings come March.

And I would bet my left nut, March 1st, those guys wouldn't have predicted (an epic collapse to see) the Leafs (lose 8 straight and) miss the playoffs.

All the Leafs had to do was play 500 hockey after the break. They have been playing at least 500 hockey for 100 games. 15 games vs 100 games; what's a better indicator?

Now they lose 8 straight and it's the 'I told you so' game.

    ...........

How do they miss the playoffs. Wow. What terrible leadership! I want Phaneuf gone. Carlyle too.
