It's confirmed. Morgan Rielly is staying boys.

Shouldn't come as a surprise - he's definitely earned it.

He may make Gardiner expendable in a year.

I agree on Gardiner's confidence and consistency. I don't know about the over coaching part though. I've read reports where Carlyle wants him to play like he did in the playoffs last year. Making plays happen, leading the rush, jumping in on the play, and safe pinching. He still sometimes does these things but just without the wow factor he had last year.

Well, I'll gladly eat crow on that one. Before the season started I didn't think there was a chance he'd stick.....that's the sort of prediction I love being wrong on!!

Yeah I was always a huge Rielly believer but didn't see the opportunity for him to stick so I dropped him in a league. I quickly scooped him back up when he started to shine though!

i still dont understand why there is so much debate between bozak/grabo. do you honestly think grabo would have been bought out if he was making 4.2M instead of 5.5M?

bottom line is, they are both pretty similar players. Bozak has the edge on faceoffs, Grabo has the edge in offense. the leafs needed Bozak's skillset more than grabo, combined with the fact that he would be much cheaper to retain makes it a no brainer to keep Bozak over Grabo. Not to mention i think kessel and grabo had like 0 chemistry since both players like to hold onto the puck a lot.

so yea, my last post still stands.

Another very solid game by Kessel last night. Yes he scored a goal but it wasnt the flash and dash that impressed me. He continues to improve the other elements of his game.
His defence will never be perfect but its miles ahead of what it used to be.
And hes slowly becoming a quiet leader.

I think theres too much negative talk around the forums about him(I know Leaf haters will hate. No changing there). Even amongst leaf fans could it be his past play? The trade? Something still linguering that has created a wall so you cant see what hes truly blossoming into?

Believe me I was there at one. I used to grumble over his game. That trade bugged me for a ling time. But Lets take off the blinders. I have.

And that's why I drafted Phil the Thrill in the 3rd rd ahead of many big names. He probably one of the most consistent goal scorers in the past 5yrs.

I'm not sure. He isn't playing tonight though. For some reason they wanted 8 Dmen for the western road trip.

What a great ****en game today!

Scoring 4 goals playing great team defence but the best part is only Ranger played over 20 minutes (not counting Rielly and Gardiner's seconds). Great road game being able to rest players for tomorrow.
