I think Fraser's arbitration hearing is set for today (Tuesday)

He wants 2M, I think he will get 1.4ish.

If the Leafs match, I think Franson is traded.

Can someone explain to me what's not to love about Franson? I was pretty impressed when he was playing in Nashville. I couldn't believe the trade that brought him to Toronto. I thought he was pretty good every time I saw him play, especially in last year playoffs.

Is there something I am missing? I know that he could use his big frame a little bit more, but is this enough to consider that he is not part of the future core of the Maple Leafs?

    Liles buyout?

6 years at 1.2M, would give us 7.2M this year.

    I don't know how I would feel about 6 years at 1.2M

    Hey Toronto fans!

After my draft, I have a lot of Leafs on my team. I kind of took the bet that the Leafs will be in the playoffs this year. What is your take on the Leafs this season? Playoff team or not?

    Thanks!

Do you guys expect Paul Ranger to be regular D-man next year or will he be in and out of the lineup?

Tough one. I think whether or not they re-sign Franson is the determining factor; if they do then Ranger is the odd man out, if they dont re-sign Franson then I could see Ranger being a regular member of the D corps in the 6/7 spot.

Highlights from the Young Stars game, Toronto and Chicago.

Rayne, I think that's his name absolutely smoked one of the Hawks prospects. Great, clean hit. Probably my favourite part of the footage.

    Thanks for the link.

Raine. Yeah, played his role pretty good. Laid a few big hits. UFA invite with no expectations so it's nice to see him step up and play any role given to him.

    PS: Rielly looked ridiculous good.

    Notes from Leafs presser.

...on Franson: 'We've made him an offer we want him to take & he's declined to take it'
...on Franson: 'There's only so much we can do to get a deal done'; says Franson doesn't think offer is fair
Nonis stresses Leafs have a lot of d-men in camp

Nonis on Ranger: 'We think Paul has the ability to play possibly in the top 4'
Nonis on Ranger: 'I can tell you he's prepared ... he's physically prepared ... he wants to be a Leaf'
Nonis says Ranger got plenty of offers: 'He wanted to be here'

Nonis notes Dean Lombardi would tell you Bernier saved Kings season last year when they struggled early
Nonis on goaltending: 'We feel we have two of the top young guys'
Carlyle on Reimer & Bernier: 'I like the term 1A & 1B bc they're both quality goaltenders'
Carlyle on goalies : The best goaltender is going to play. It's up to our individuals and how are team plays in from of them.

Carlyle on Rielly: 'To have him in our lineup, we don't envision him playing sparing mins'; notes he doesn't have to play every game though
Carlyle says Rielly will get into every preseason game and then they'll have to make a decision. Talks about logjam on blueline as positive.
Carlyle says Rielly will have to be on pace to play between 12-15 min a game if he is to stick.
