Do people seriously see this guy in the NHL next year? Isn't 'rushing the rebuild' what's killed the Leafs for decades? There's no need to rush one of our best assets....stay the course and get him a few cups of coffee next year followed by a legit shot at the team the following year.

There's no reason to believe he made considerable progress, but WHAT IF he comes to camp and impresses beyond expectations and then some.

I personally think he will be going back to the dub and the WJC, but why discount him as NHL ready already?

What if he is the best defender in camp and proves he belongs? Send him down? Why?

My thing is, while the WJC would be of benefit, does he really have anythg 2 prove in JR?

You're playing what if's and that's fine but I'm saying I dont' believe he's ready. We're attempting to predict right, well here's my prediction....He does not make the team because he's not ready.....simple!

Nashville is talking about keeping Jones as an 18 year old. Are they rushing him? Or do they just believe he's ready? I think it's the latter.
Jones is not a comparable for Reilly so I don't see how that affects the conversation at hand.

As for 'holding a player back' that is not my point, I said he's not ready and I stand by that. You're using a hypothetical scenario to argue my prediction/observation.

Maybe he does come in a beast and force his way onto the roster, maybe Reimer wins the Veznia, maybe Kulemin scores 30 goals, maybe Bozak is a good palyer.......anything can happen

If I had to predict I would send him back as well. But all I'm saying is lets not say he's not ready when we haven't seen him in camp yet.

He missed 90% of the season in his draft year.

Oh i agree. But watching him play last season and the progress he made(Dominated) I am just not sure he needs another year.

But again we need to wait for training camp and see what happens

    Chris Johnston ‏@reporterchris 3m

David Clarkson goes for the reverse Wendel Clark and will wear No. 71 for the #leafs.

I'm not a fan of the contract and also not a fan of the number.

I would be shocked if Kessel wasn't paired up with Bozak again this season.

Thanks for the link. Interesting that LA gave up on a 2nd round pick that quickly....maybe he'll never play in the NHL but I'm more that happy to see what he can do in the AHL for a year or two before writing him off. Goalies are so unpredictable you never know.
