Toronto lost 3 power play players (Bozak, JvR, Leo). The LW and C2/point guys is going to be interesting. Leivo, Kapanen, Brown, and Johnsson are going to be battling for those spots. Remember Kadri was playing the point on PP2 with Bozak centreing that line.

That's what i was thinking. Maybe they should just go with someone neutral like Rielly ?

But I do think Tavares should be the captain. If he can captain the Islanders he should be a clear leader j. The leafs dressing room

Aren't these odds based mostly on making adjustments to account for the dumb money that must be flowing in on the Leafs right now?

Know what, I was remembering I guess when he rotated up, I dunno, I really thought he was the Point Guy. Maybe when they were bad he was the point guy?

Daily Face-off has it as Marner-Rielly and then Marleau-Gardiner.

Austin Matthews wants to win period. He was on the phone courting Tavares to Toronto. There have been MULTIPLE reports he is ecstatic with the JT signing. He wanted JT here... to think now he'd be pissed? Not a chance. This will work fine.

If the Pitts example is too organic due to drafting both.. then Washington with a veteran C bringing in Kuznetsov who supplanted Backstrom from the top line with Ovie is a good example... they just went out and won a Cup.

Didn't Washington draft both Backstrom and Kuznetsov too?

It took him so long to cross the ocean, does that even count?

I think if you look back to his draft year it still is in the records that he was drafted by the Washington Capitals.

it's still a better example than Pitts where Malkin was drafted first and arrived at the same time. Backstrom in place for years before Kuzy came across the pond, several years after.

It really is a moot point anyway. AM is as pumped as Kadri for this signing and was involved directly in the process (see phone call to JT) in trying to convince him to pick Tor. Matthews is Happy. Tavares is Happy. Leafs Nation is Happy.

Everyone, but fans of 30 other teams are Happy ... The easy answer to Axe's question about AM being happy playing 'second fiddle' to Tavares is - Yes

Just as long as the he is still happy next year when his contract renewal comes up. If he plays 2nd fiddle all year and then Leafs try getting him at the lower rate than Tavares.

Also, wouldn't it be ironic if Matthews did the same thing to TO and left for his hometown when it comes down to his first UFA contract. Coyotes, start your pitching now!

Martin just dumped for free. I am 99% sure Lou is a double agent working for the Leafs.

Haha... wow... someone would get in big trouble for that one.... but Lou probably wouldn't care... he has been in trouble before with the Kovy deal.
