For those who weren't watching the broadcast.....

Zaitsev and Leafs closing in a 7 year deal around 4.5M.

Huge win, indeed. What do you mean satisfied with 2 points this road trip? We still go to Detroit and Buffalo before coming home for the final stretch.

Thursday, April 6th Leafs host the Lightning. Gonna be a huge game.

If they can lock down 2 top 4 D-men (Rielly as the other) for 5mill and under for yrs, that will be huge when it comes to their forwards and their next contracts.

I was expecting another 5x5 for Zaits, but the way he's improved this yr, I get the 7yr.

Connor Brown 19G, 16A, +5, kills penalties, plays the PP, great 2 way. Again if it wasn't this good of a rookie yr he'd be getting a ton more praise.

    I would love a $4.5Mx7 year deal.

I love these types of deals when your sure about the player.

The potential the Leafs having HOME ICE ADVANTAGE is insane

Let's not get greedy... first round with sens (instead of caps/pens) is a big enough win!

He's saying a Sens home game is actually a home game for the Leafs. Always has been.

I have a question for y'all about the D -- what's with Rielly and Zaitsev's +/- numbers? It's really strange to see a distribution like this:

    Player TOI +/-
    Carrick 16:23 +10
    Gardner 21:24 +25
    Hunwick 17:58 +7
    Polak 17:55 +10
    Rielly 22:13 -18
    Zaitsev 22:16 -21

I haven't watched them. They're most frequently playing together, so are they just terrible defensively? The two TOI leaders are abysmally worse in +/- than the other 4? That's a very strange thing to see. What's the story?

    Any insight hugely appreciated.

Yes lol. But didn't the Sens do some BS (and Tampa i think too in the past) you have to have an Ottawa address to buy tickets from TicketMaster in a way to lower the chances of not having a home crowd? I think it was Sens vs Montreal, so if they did it for Mont. they're doing it for Sens vs Toronto.

    It is pretty strange.

Like you said they have been paired together most of the season and they take the hardest assignments but a combined -39 is abysmal. It's been worse, they were a combined -45+ earlier in the year. You have to remember Rielly's high ankle injury and Zaitsev first North American season. Seems like Rielly has found his step again lately.

When I watch them play I don't see them being -20 players.

I remember saying to Iron Sheik I find it more likely the Bruins jump into 2nd than the Sens jumping into 1st when Sens were like 2 points back. Even with 2 less games than the Sens, it's going to be so hard for them to make it up with Dion as their top D.

I'm not thrilled with the prospect of facing the Bruins in round 1 (still have nightmares about the last time).

    Damn you Karlsson!

It’s almost story book if Toronto faced Boston in round 1, but won. Like cleansing away the last 50yrs
